Drake landed 6’1” UT-A transfer Kyron Gibson today. Averaged 11.2 ppg and almost 4 assists.

We’ve commented on the Drake board that we see some Penn qualities in his game. Should be a big help for us in the backcourt. EDIT: only 1 year of eligibility.

Drake's starting 5
11 PPG/4 APG in WAC
16 PPG in Big West
Patriot League FOY
DeVries
Brodie

Add in an excellent backup PG in Enright and Drake is looking great with their top-6.

SIU lands Cincinnati transfer Jarrett Hensley. Was a 4 star out of high school and has a lot of athleticism but hasn't been able to show any of it on the court. Started at UNC Greensboro.

Hensley is 6-8 and has two years of eligibility left. The way Southern's roster is shaping up, there is a lot of size and some interesting options at the 3 through 5 spots, but scoring and depth at guard is still problematic. Seems like they're trending toward playing bigger/longer lineups than Mullins typically has thrown out there.

Still three scholarships available, but getting rather late in the game.

Fought through some injuries while at Cincinnati, and his stats reflected that.
Two positives: very athletic, and he's a lefty.
Solid addition IMO.

Still lacking an impact type player but hearing we're still in on some bigger fish. We shall see!

Hope you're right. I've known about the 2 gets already and Sharp (2023 HS PG) but haven't heard anyone else besides the names we've shown interest in on Twitter.

Belmont picked up a 6-5 graduate transfer from D2 Lee University. This isn't one that I get overly excited about, but it does help add some experience in our shooting guard spot.

He's a scorer averaging 16 ppg on a 20-8 Lee team, but his 3-point shooting is a little lower than we're used to.

We've had some good results in the past several years from D2 and NAIA guards we've picked up, so I hope this is another one that fills a gap. And, it probably didn't cost us any NIL money.

Not a transfer but no good place to put this.

James Betz has decided not to use his COVID year and will not return for UNI. He got married at 19 and has two kids under 3, it probably makes sense for him to get out into the world plus Jacob Hutson was going to eat up a lot of his minutes.

The Phyfe waiver hasn't been ruled on and apparently he had another health set back so I am leaning towards him being done as well. That gets UNI back to 13 scholarships with none available for the 2024 class.

UNI Scholarship Chart:

Seniors: None
Juniors: Anderson, Born, Henry, Hutson
Sophomores: Campbell, Courbat, Duax, Heise, Peksari, Wolf
Freshmen: Pock, Rubin, Taylor

I love how UNI lists people. Heise is two years older than Trey Campbell but lets just go ahead and list them both as Sophomores.

I, for the life of me, can't figure out why people get so worked up about this?

Heise has 3 years of playing eligibility left which, reasonably, makes him a sophomore in terms of athletic eligibility. Would it make people feel better if he was a senior for 3 years? I don't get it.
