He and his team have won 26 Valley games in 2 years. Maybe SIU can reach that total in the next 5.

How many MVC titles, or NCAA tournament games has he won?

Try and follow along with me.

The SIU fan made a comment about Toure Murray not winning *anything* in the *MVC*. I merely pointed out to the SIU fan that his statement may have been a bit harsh and that possibly SIU fan's team could maybe do as much as Toure Murray's team did with an additional 3 years.

Where did the NCAA Tournament talk come from? That wasn't the initial question and the comment made little to no sense. You might as well have asked "how many National Championships has he won?"

But to answer your question, he has won as many MVC titles and NCAA Tournament games as Panther greats and legends Eric Coleman, Grant Stout, and Ben E. Jacobsen.

No he hasn't. Stout and Jacobson won the 2004 Missouri Valley Tournament Championship that qualified them for the NCAA Tournament. He is equal to Coleman, though.

I was with you in your response to the SIU fan in that TM has won more games than he has lost in his tenure at WSU and shouldn't be judged solely on MVC titles or NCAA appearances. If the criteria is NCAA appearances than clearly SIU fans should not be complaining about Lowery because he definitely is a "winner", don't let the last few years fool you. :D

I was counting regular season titles as I put more stock in games played over the course of an 18 game season than getting hot on a random weekend.

I'm with you on the Lowery thing. Absolutely 100% correct.

I really hate the post season tournament. It gives way too much credibility to a team like ISU that had a decent year and 1 good weekend.

And it all but eliminates the successes of a team like Missouri State that gutted it out all season. Who deserved a bid more this season, Bears or Trees? NOT EVEN CLOSE.

All it does is reinforce the reach around mentality of the Valley of Even.

I'd kill to lose the games at the end of the year and replace them with 1 buy home game, and 2 tough roadies, or 1 extra tournament and take my chances of building an at large resume assuming my team didn't win the regular season title.

Yeah, because the MVc is the only conference that awards its auto-bid to the tourney champ :Bam:

Obviously the Valley is not alone in this, but the Valley is one of the few conferences that has a legitimate shot at playing with the big boys on occasion. I also realize it isn't going to change because fan bases like CU and WSU are cash cows for the Valley.

I don't like the post season tourney for any of the conferences, but I do think the Valley is unique in their standing. The conference champion is almost always a team that can make noise in the dance and should rarely, if ever be excluded from the tournament.

We should fix this by improving our conference (SOS requirement), not by getting rid of the conference tournament.
