I think most of the awards winners are hard to argue. I thought Echenique would win Defensive Player of the Year and he did. I was a bit surprised with Hall being selected NOY as his role diminished toward the end of the conference season (his last 2 games were 2 pts/1 reb, 1pt/4rebs).

I would have had Murry higher than Honorable Mention, but I can also understand why Odum was chosen.

The best part might be that the MVC will return six of the ten 1st/2nd teamers.

Hall's role did diminish some toward the end, but he was HUGE in the nonconference for WSU. If you are going to include nonconference performance that puts McDermott over the top for Player of the Year, than you should also consider it for Newcomer of the Year.

Echinique as DPOY is a flat out joke. As is murry only being HM all conference.

The newcomer of the year doesn't even average 9 points per game. WOW. I have a problem with that one.

Tuttle is more deserving of newcomer of the year than Hall is, IMO. Downing or Tyler Brown have much better #'s too.

Who said the best team has to have the best player? It happens more often than not, but it's neither a rule nor a fact. I have stated Doug deserves the POY because the voting isn't limited to Valley games only. He deserves the award, regardless of the fact he's atrocious defensively.

But if it comes to fruition (as I think it will) one would have to question how CU could have the POY and DPOY (as well as possibly the NOY) and yet, somewhat inexplicably, finish 2 games out of 1st place.

I think the average non-biased fan would struggle to grasp how that is possible, but I could be mistaken.

Yup, you were mistaken.

You seem to have a serious case of butt-sting over seeing your Jays collapse, even though you'll mention to anyone that will listen how you predicted it at the start of the season (and you know in your heart why you did that). Anyone that thinks you didn't expect your Jays to win the conference doesn't know your trolling behavior very well.

I fail to see where you have quantified the "average non biased fan". I wouldn't consider people that vote, without whom the scenario becomes null and void, "average non biased fans".

Are you done now, or do you want to keep inserting foot into beak?

By the way congratulations to all who made this list. Whether or not some fans take issue with the selections, each of these players certainly excelled throughout the year and are deserving of the accolades.

I especially like the Ned Cox selection...I always thought he would be a starter and a star by now. Really good player.

I'm a Carl Hall fan, and I take issue with this selection as well. Good solid player. Not NCOY imho.

This just in! More time was added for a recount and WSU not only completly filled the 1st and 2nd teams, but also Honorable Mention was made up of WSU redshirts and next year recruits.

I like him too. He can play on my team any day. His #'s are good enough to be on the All Newcomer team. I just don't see the Newcomer of the Year from him though.
