Well they might be able to provide a neutral floor for their conference tournament.

It doesn't necessarily mean Nebraska. I think there will be a lot of BCS schools interested in his services.

If Marshall has a brain, he would steer as clear of the Nebraska job as he possible could. The pecking order actually goes, Football, Spring Football, Volleyball, Baseball, Off Season Football Weight Lifting, Bo Pelini's jogging route, Tom Osborne's bowel movements, Men's Basketball.

Nice!

Marshall will have the option to leave this year (and probably next) if he choses to do so. Money, unless it is rediculous top 10 money will only be a minor factor. I think Marshall will be selective in his next move, after all, the guy will likely make more than 5 million in his next 4 years at WSU and might just continue to win 20 + games a year.

Wichita is a little different than Winthrop. At Winthrop he didn't make good money (relative to his job performance) and he had a recruiting budget that did not allow him to compete at the highest level. He does have those things now. That doesn't mean he has no desire to move up or that he won't take a mid-level BCS job.

Absolutely agree. Nebraska is a large step down. I would put the South Carolina job in the same position. Obviously the only thing going for him there is that it is "back home" and he once called it his "dream job". I just don't know if the improved salary for a few years would be worth the risk of either one of those. Both have proven to be career suicide locations, notably South Carolina.

It will certainly be interesting to see what GM does at the end of this year. And what offers come up for him. I wonder if a deep ncaa run would make him less or more likely to stay? You could see it both ways.

Some of the good jobs could get filled before Marshall would be done with a deep tourny run. In that case, next year could be the more likely time for him to leave. It was how things worked out with Turgeon. Marshall was pretty selective when leaving Winthrop, so he is not going to leave WSU for just any offer.

Lowery is out, so hopefully SIU should start getting better. If they Valley does get serious about teams scheduling better, overcoming 20 years of inertia in St Louis will be less of a factor since it would make an at large more feasible.

Or a one and done? It is not a given that WSU will win one game - it all becomes about matchups. If they get a team that has size and strength inside, it will be tough game for WSU and if their guard play is like ISUR, then it could be two games in row of disappointment.

Sure. I agree. I really have a hard time seeing WSU knocked out in the first game but anything can happen. And if they are one and done that could have an impact on his decision too.

Marshall's stock could be at its highest after this year. If he stays he will have to rebuild a little and I would expect him to stick around for at least a couple more years until he can produce another top team.

I really feel like Marshall wouldn't want to go to a school where basketball isn't a top priority. I think his ego is a bit too big to be the coach of the third or fourth banana program on campus.

I would think a solid BCS job where basketball is as important or nearly as important as football would be his next step if he took one.

I just can't see him moving to a historically bad, underfunded basketball program is that is drastically overshadowed by football and even baseball teams.
