IMO, this pretty much shuts the door on the MVC moving the tourney to KC in the near future...

Still different weekend and also we could use Kemper if Sprint Center isn't available. And then maybe Municipal Auditorium for women's basketball. But this news does counter that KC momentum that most of us were sensing. If we were at that 2006 tournament level then I'd say go head to head with them but right now the disparity is too big.

I can assure you the Valley will not move to KC to play in Kemper.

Brian Burwell's article, which first addressed the possibility of the tourney leaving STL, indicated that Elgin was expected to sign an extension this summer keeping the MVC tourney in STL until 2015 anyway. It was only after 2015 that the mVC would move elsewhere. Since the new Big 12 deal only goes to 2016, I'm not sure this means a lot for the mVC, although I suppose it may temporarily drain a bit of KC's enthusiasm in bidding for the MVC.

Lots of time left.

Are there any planned enhancements/upgrades on the drawing board for Scottrade? In the what's new and flashy world of sports venues these days that place might be getting a little long in the tooth by 2016.

If they do, I hope they poll only Bluejay and Shocker fans to see what they would like to see in the upgrades.

I don't hold out much hope though.

I could care less if they upgrade the arena. If they are going to make changes, have them work on:
1. Lower beer prices
2. Locals that give a hoot
3. Lower beer prices
4. Businesses that appreciate all the fans dropping big bucks into their economy
5. Lower beer prices
6. A more vibrant downtown area

Than I wouldn't mind the long drive to St. Louis. Or go the easy route and bring it to Kansas City.

Different weekend doesn't make a difference IMO. In that case we are playing 2nd fiddle to the Big XII and KC locals will only be more annoyed that they have to deal with the influx of people on 2 separate weekends. I would have preferred KC, I absolutely love that town, but now that the Big XII sealed the deal we should forget about it and move on.

What deal has the Big 12 sealed? At the earliest, the MVC wouldn't move until 2016 anyway. If the Big 12 had locked up KC for several years beyond 2015, I'd tend to agree with what you said.

As to Kemper - let's not get silly. Now, if the MVC did it like the BIg 12 and had the men's and women's tourney at the same time in the same city, Kemper would be a good place to put the women's tourney.

As a big hoops fan, I would LOVE to see the MVC move to KC. Where do I sign up for tickets?
