MVC 10 Members or 12? Front-runners?

Discuss the MVC hoops season here.

Unfortunately, without CU, I believe that the MVC will be more in the 12-15 range (in RPI). There may be years where the conference is better but their top 10 status is long gone.

I would think that these schools would want to think twice about joining a conference where they will have to increase their budgets (all the while becoming less likely to make it to the tournament).

but it may allow their schools to receive more exposure as compared to the exposure they get in their current conferences.

To be honest, I think this idea is a bit insane. Who is the MVC falling behind?

Not the MAC, the way they've trended.
Not the MAAC.
Not CUSA, with all their own defections they're dealing with.
The WAC is falling apart.
Sun Belt?
OVC, even with Belmont and Murray, have so much dead weight.
Horizon? They're 12th in a good year for them.
Patriot? Summit? SoCon?
CAA? Hah.

And frankly if the A-10 loses all 4 western members, the MVC's going to have a shot to chase them down.

In short, I see the MVC toggling between 9 and 10. There's just nobody behind us. Nobody.

the conference RPI percentage number may fall, but you're right, it should not fall so far that we drop below those conferences you mentioned.

CBS is reporting Denver or Belmont as possible replacements.

Wait what?

Keeping that private/public balance is important? The MVFC doesn't give those teams an inside track to the MVC, a completely separate conference? The Dakotas aren't 1 and 2? Say it aint so!!!!

I would be fine with Denver or Belmont.

For those calling for SLU and Dayton, what would happen if the A-10 tried to poach the MVC? I think teams would leave the MVC sooner than leave the A-10 to join the MVC.

If SLU and Dayton leave for the Big East, there aren't any teams that close to the A-10 anymore. The MVC and A-10 might be looking at similar replacements though like Belmont.

I think Denver's willingness to join will come down to whether or not they will add sports. About all they bring to the MVC is men's and women's BB.

Belmont, on the other hand, offers nearly ALL sports that the MVC sponsors.

Let's add both, and throw Murray State in there for good measure.
