ISU Red had an exhibition game with Marquette? I thought it was a joint practice. And wasn't he allowed to practice during the suspension?

Joint practice isn't the term that I have heard for that. I believe closed scrimmage is the right term. So basically an exhibition game that is not open to the public where the score is not kept. Also, this closed scrimmage was a home-and-home deal because last year ISU hosted it at Redbird Arena and this year the Redbirds made the return trip to Milwaukee. I do not know if the closed scrimmage contract is being renewed or not and if they will do this for additional years beyond these two. I know for the exhibition game that is open to the public ISU has hosted Quincy for several years in a row now.

If the NCAA does not recognize it as an official game that counts towards a season record, then it is not an official game. This is somewhat sad to see some of these excuses coming out of the woodwork between these "undisclosed circumstances" that are absolving him of guilt to serving "punishment" by missing meaningless exhibitions. The fact remains that Daishon Knight, a student-athlete who is supposed to represent the university and RedBird basketball program, whether he is wearing a jersey or not, was involved in an incident where he did enough to be charged with battery and then resisted arrest, charges that he admitted guilt to, and he will not miss a single game regular season game as a result of his behavior.

Not sure what kind of message Coach Muller is trying to send on this one. But it doesn't seem like one that is geared towards deterring this type of behavior in the future. I'm not saying he's encouraging it, mind you, but I think my point is pretty clear.
[Insert snappy comeback]

Meanwhile, down the road in Peoria.....

Jordan Prosser gets a 4-game suspension for "violation of University and Athletic Dept. standards".

I don't think it was, or ever will be, announced. However, one poster on a Bradley message board states "This is not a law enforcement type situation or a law breaking situation. Make no mistake Geno is sending a message here".

Joe Ragland got a one game suspension for being late to class. I'm sure the class "had it coming" and he was set up and everybody knew it, but none-the-less, he got suspended.

Same situation with Anthony James last year. Lots of speculation what happened but there was NEVER ANY legal action of any kind taken/brought/charged/anything. He was asked questions by the UNI Police Department (not even the full CF PD, as far as I know) and got a 3 game suspension that didn't include exhibitions.

I don't remember the exact wording but I'm sure it read very similar to the violation of University and Athletic Dept. standards line.

I just love how this particular Redbird fan is trying to defend this. An exhibition game is technically a game? lol. Good one.

What's the second word in exhibition game? I didn't say it was a game that counted toward the season record, but it's a game nonetheless. If it's not a game, then why is the second word "game" in exhibition game?
