They moved to a conference (WAC) that was literally on its deathbed and includes several teams (not one, but several) who are only in it because no one else would take them.

I'm guessing our resident UMKC fan is furious about that move. And he should be. But his program forfeits the right to expect even a cursory glance from the MVC for at least 25 years, and not until they get out of the WAC.

Nope, not furious about anything. But a UMKC win against a RPI 75 team is a pretty good win for a team that is supposedly lower than whale sh-t. I think all the movement among conferences was mostly about football. As hard as some posters on this forum knock the Horizon, Summit, and CUSA, why doesn,'t more MVC teams don't play some teams from those conferences to build their resumes with some easy wins??????. If you can't beat'em don't knock'em. You and most of the posters on this forum were estatic when LOC granted membeship. What did it get you? Now about all I hear is damn, damn, damn. MVC should have taken NDSU or SDSU, or some other school west of the Mississippi. Eastern MVC posters extremely negative about any and all schools west of the Mississippi--not just UMKC. As the MVC ranking starts to sink in the quicksand, better do something or you will soon be like dogs sniffing Horizon, Summit, and CUSA butts.

Anybody can get hot and anybody can get cold at the same time and for 40 minutes.

I remember New England's glorious days about six years ago or so. The Pats went to Miami and were a big fav by a spread that was almost unheard of from Vegas. The Dolphins kicked the Pat's butt.

It's kind of entertaining. This guys posts kind of remind me of when my son was 2 years old and you never really knew what he was talking about half the time and a lot of what he said was nonsense.

I haven't had this much fun since granny caught her t-t in the wringer.

If it wasn't for me and a few meth heads--no no, math heads, who don't watch the games--just argue stats, reminds me of the movie "Deliverence" and the song Dueling Banjos, this forum would be like watching paint dry.

The WAC is lucky to have an automatic bid with the who's who of 300+ RPI's on their roster. Good Lord. If and when NMSU bolts, that conference may (or at least SHOULD) have its auto bid revoked. The Summit is a low-major but a scrappy conference with a couple of decent teams. Why did UMKC leave to join a geographical misfit and bottom of the barrel in every sport WAC? If it's because they have a better shot of an automatic bid against literally the worst teams in Division 1, that tells me UMKC is not willing to make the necessary investments to be competitive in a conference like the MVC.

Ran the WAC numbers today. NO 300 RPI. There is a 295. The other RPIs are low to mid 200s, and NMSU RPI is 76. But a MVC math head today said LOC RPI was 301.

The conference realignments of mid level teams was driven primarily by football. WAC became a non football conference--with several FB schools leaving. NMSU and the one remaining WAC FB school now compete for FB in another conference--Sunbelt, I think. Also think Horizon an Summit wanted to build FB programs and that's why non FB UMKC left and NDSU, SDSU, and ????, moved to those conferences

Yep, the Summit is so focused on football, a sport they don't sponsor, that they added Denver to take your spot, is taking back Oral Roberts next year, and got Nebraska-Omaha to give up football to join it.

I am showing Cal-St Bakersfield at 304 and Texas Pan-Am at 305, but it's close. I'll give the WAC credit for not being a complete train wreck.

WAC RPIs:
71 (NMSU!)
148 (against the #179 non-con SoS)
188
251
261
276
304
305

The non-con SoSs aren't much better, but give UMKC credit for a top 50 there.

Here is who in the Valley that has played Horizon, Summit, and CUSA teams this year:
Tulsa- WSU, Indiana St, MSU
UIC- Loyola, Drake
Oakland- Illinois St
IUPUI- Evansville, Bradley, Drake, Indiana State
Valpo- Evansville
Milwaukee- UNI, Bradley, Loyola
IPFW- Bradley
UNO- Drake
The only team in the Valley that didn't play someone from these conferences is SIU. How many games do we need to play with these teams in order for you to be happy?

Sycamores also played and destroyed IUPUI, Loyola also played and beat Milwaukee
