Wichita State - in or out?

Discuss the MVC hoops season here.

Why do you always need to argue my friend. Why not a friendly discussion with someone with differing viewpoints? I guess that's not your style.

You're right... 2008-2009 has been way too long. That we can agree on.

To be honest, Wichita's resume reminds me of Colorado State's resume from last year. Wichita has the better win between the two schools, but Colorado State had more quality wins. And they were left out.

For Evansville, having NDSU win and Chattanooga lose would be the only two things that could have made their situation worse.

For Wichita, all the wrong teams are going to the at-large board. Valpo lost, Monmouth lost and absorbed the best possible loss in going to the board, Hofstra lost and absorbed the best possible loss in going to the board, and St Mary's lost and absorbed the best possible loss in going to the board.

While I agree that it's been the worst possible scenario so far. It actually might have gotten so bad, its turned helpful. WSU's resume is better than St. Marys, Monmouth, Valpo, Hofstra. The committee most likely doesn't want to leave out EVERY big name mid-major that won their conference. They want to place value on the regular season, and their scheduling. I think the way it's unfolded means WSU is actually more likely to get a big over a Low tier P5 team now that didn't schedule well.

Just my two cents...

1 seeds---KU, Nova, UVA, OU

2 seeds---MSU, UNC, Xavier, WVU

3 seeds---Oregon, Miami, Indiana, UK

4 seeds---Utah, Duke, Purdue, Maryland

5 seeds---TA&M, Iowa St, Arizona, Cal

6 seeds---Texas, Iowa, Baylor, Wisconsin

7 seeds---Dayton, ND, Seton Hall, Texas Tech

8 seeds---Colorado, Providence, St Joe, Cincy

9 seeds---Butler, USC, Pitt, Vandy

10 seeds---Wichita State, Oregon St, VCU, St. Mary's, Gonzaga

11 seeds---Cuse,So. Carolina , St. Boneaventure, Temple, SDSU

12 seeds---UALR, Yale, So. Dakota St, Akron

13 seeds---UNI, UNCW, Chattanooga, SFA

14 seeds---Hawaii, UAB, Stony Brook, Iona

15 seeds---UWGB, NMSU, Weber St, UNC-A

16 seeds---Holy Cross, FGCU, FDU, Tx. So, Hampton, Austin Peay

Would really like to put Tulsa, Valpo, and Monmouth in but just can't. If Temple falters and Tulsa can win two in the conference tourney, I would swap them. Valpo's secondary numbers are better than any other bubble team (Ken Pom, BPI, Road/Neu Record).

I don't see why Syracuse should make the tournament. They went 9-10 in there conference play. Lost to Pitt in the first round of there con. Tourney. 9-7 since Jim came back. I don't see them getting in. Joe lunardi says they should be Next 4 out

I understand you're angry because your favorite team choked in the tournament. Sorry for your loss.

But yes, the Northern Iowa losses hurt way more than you're trying to brush aside.

Regarding Evansville, their RPI is in the 90s... A little too far off from the comparisons you're looking for during the games without FVV. Never said anything regarding being a tourney team or not. Don't put words in my mouth to try and bolster your argument.

Regarding New Mexico State. Their RPI is 120ish. Not sure if it's a good win or not. Projections don't often hold up, we will see.

As it currently sits, Utah is all Wichita has going for it. In my opinion that's not enough. But don't forget, I'm pulling for Wichita to get in. We are rooting for the same thing here. No need for the hostility.

Ah, lol at me for attempting to argue against obvious trolling.

Sincerely, I hope ISUr can join the bubble discussion one day. It has been way, way too long.

There is no trolling here. The Redbird fan has a differing opinion, albeit more negative to the prospects for WSU than you do. Doesn't mean that he is wrong and you are right or vice versae.

WSU fans are very defensive about their players, coaches, and future NCAA tourney prospects.

Think about this - if WSU and FVV don't struggle in the conference tournament again, then this 5 page thread is moot. Your team put your fans and themselves into an uneasy situation. Devil's advocate is never a bad thing. Take it with class and don't get so upset Play Angry

Nah, nobody's upset - just bewildered by the poor analysis that would cherry-pick only results against UNI and exclude other teams who are Tournament-bound or with comparable (or significantly better) RPIs. The lack of a substantive response and instead resorting to "Sorry your team choked" without giving a cogent standard of judgment for analysis is indicative of trolling. Alternatively, we can just agree that the argument is just poorly structured.

There are better cases which can be made against WSU's inclusion in the field and I have no problem with agreeing to disagree with those. You are incorrect about one thing though, for certain - there is definitely a right side and a wrong side to the debate. We'll see which is which on Sunday.

Cheers to the Redbirds and I am pulling for you guys to eek out a bid to the Vegas16 tournament at Mandalay Bay. Their auditorium is really nice and it should be a fun atmosphere for small crowds - think playing hoops on a House of Blues stage. Good luck on Sunday.

Today's update for Lunardi:

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology

Shocks still an 8 seed.

Today's update from Palm:

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketb ... palm_preSS

Despite a poor week for teams on the bubble, Palm has moved the Shockers up 5 spots in 4 days and they are now the first team out of the field. Strange given the results in that period.

Today's update from the BracketMatrix (showing a composite of all projections):

http://bracketmatrix.com/

Shockers in 76 of 99 brackets at the moment, average seed is 9.93.

Was this needed? It seems like you are just poking fun. I very much doubt this was a sincere comment?

FWIW, I think WSU is a lock for the tournament barring some crazy scenario of teams completely out winning the P5 conference tournaments.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Calm down. Why would you explode and call somebody classless after they say "Good luck on Sunday" in regard to your team's dream postseason scenario as of today? Illinois State appears to be very much on the bubble for the Vegas16, and I hope they can snipe a bid. It appears you are venting frustration with your team's predicament and it is aimed at the wrong source.

I agree that Wichita State is likely in the Tournament for the fifth straight season. Selection Sunday should be fun for all of us as we wait to see if our teams get their name called.

I removed the classless part in my message above. Sorry about that. I just misread the message and assumed you were making fun of us a bit.

Just a misunderstanding.
