Fans don't want to see these teams and aren't buying tickets. Quite literally, UCONN, Cincy, UCF, Memphis, and Houston would sell their soul to get out of the AAC.

Wait, you are getting your AAC info and opinions from NoEscalators????? LMFAO.

Disagree. Loyola is ranked 28 spots higher in KenPom. Loyola is better than the Shockers this year, imo. And they were last year as well.

As of today WSU has a better NET rating than any team in the Valley.

Safe to say we would have a better record if we were in the Valley. We wouldn't have started off 0-3 in the MVC. So we would probably have 2-3 more wins. But then our NET rating would look worse, even with the better record.

So with that...God Bless the AAC. And it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Not until some of these schools can find the escape hatch.

The funny thing is Wichita will be stuck watching all these schools leave for better conferences only yo be stuck in purgatory. It will be ironic...and beautiful.

If you talk to them they're getting into the Big East or Mountain West though, LOL. So, delusional.

Big East, maybe. The Mountain West...not without football.

The MVC was purgatory. At least this way we get 5+ years of great basketball and home games on CBS against UConn, Cincy, etc.

Wichita would win the Valley this year.

it wont be better when this happens. and, it will happen. all 6 will get ate up eventually.

When you actually sit down and think about which teams could move, and how many spots are available in realignment....how do 6 AAC teams leave to better pastures? Sure, there are 6 (or more) candidates to move....but not 6 or more theoretical spots available.

The MWC is far more likely for WSU and their interest in Gonzaga confirms this. It's a better geographic fit and a better fit for their budget. BE schools won't ever go near the Shockers. They're public they're far away the jury's out on whether they can sustain their success in the AAC (though I personally believe that they'll ultimately be okay) and they'd have to substantially increase their budget unless they want to be like Butler and max out as a second round and out team with the occasional Sweet 16 run and that's if they even got into the BE.

One team's purgatory is another's heaven. Our frustrations with the HL were quite akin to WSU's with the MVC

As for realignment in most realignment scenarios it's hard to imagine how the AAC doesn't lose multiple teams. UCONN wants out (basketball) UCF wants out (football) Cincinnati and Houston look like Big XII locks should there be any movement from Texas or Oklahoma USF holds some real appeal for football and recruiting and yes the dregs of the Big XII are far more exciting than the bottom of the AAC. The top of the AAC would bolt so fast even in a best of the rest scenario. Would an AAC down 1-3 of its best programs really be better than the MWC especially with the MWC potentially making overtures to western AAC teams?

The MVC is a sinking ship right now and will never regain its Glory years. Who regrets leaving a sinking ship? The only opportunity to live is to get away from it.

Last year, the MVC ranked 8th overall, produced the 6th highest rated CCG, and took home the 6th most tourney shares per school.

Roughly 24 leagues would take that season. IIRC, Wichita’s coach sat in a CBS studio analyzing a Final 4 MVC team.

Wichita made the logical leap every other school would take. They’re in the modern equivalent of CUSA 1.0. A league better than the PAC 12. With schools who match their identity (Cincinnati, Memphis, Houston) and a ready-made rival (Tulsa).

It’s also unlikely Wichita would lose many of its conferencemates. The power brokers want to keep the P65 number minimal because that maximizes value before a P70+ waters the money down.

That said, basketball snobbery isn’t a good look. Gonzaga’s thrived for 2 decades on a “sinking ship”. You can make Final 4’s out of upper mid-major leagues.
