However, a person who works as an asst. coach for the program certainly should face repercussion if the allegations are true and their negligence led to a falsified report and delayed medical care. That's a no-brainer, "You're Fired!" and to think otherwise is ludicrous. Again, this is all under the assumption that the allegations are true.

Can't fire him, assuming it's Richter.
They can't seem to win any recruiting battles in the Midwest and he's their pipeline to the Florida and Virginia JUCOs...

This is absurd. This was an accidental injury. The only issue is whether the player was negligent in the handling of the gun causing it to fire. That seems pretty likely. Nothing anybody did or said after the fact is of any relevance. The coach has denied the allegations. With all of the intentional cheating going on in college sports you want NCAA sanctions for an accidental injury? It would be nice if everything in the world could work perfectly, but things happen in real time. I don't know what is meant by "swept under the rug." He pled guilty to the only crimes he could have been charged with. More than would have been charged if he had not been a Drake basketball player.
Hopefully no Valpo player ever gets in an auto accident that injures someone. If so I assume you would propose that the Valpo basketball program be shut down.
