He's beaten out Wichita State transfer Ricky Torres for the starting PG position. Muller puts guys in and out of the starting lineup based on defense and DJ has shown flashes of a young Paris Lee. He is still learning how to be a PG (primarily getting assists) but he is shooting 66.7% from the floor including 53% from 3. He's started the last two games and over the last three is averaging 13.3 ppg. He takes good, high percentage shots.

If he continues to progress, I could see him being in the conversation.

MVC debut against Northern Iowa:
22 points
3 rebounds
4 assists
FG 7-11
3’s 3-3
FT’s 5-5
5 steals

I'm just worried he'll be too good and a major will come calling.

I posted this in another thread, but the best news for MSU is that Mosley has gotten out of Ford purgatory and gotten decent playing time in 4 games in a row now including his 1st start against Evansville. I've said all along he was the most efficient perimeter scorer I've seen for the Bears in a long time and at right at 6'6 is able to score at all levels. He's becoming more aggressive and that can only bode will for the Bears. In his last 4 games he's averaged: 22 minutes, 1 start, 13ppg, 65% fg, 80% 3pt, 75% ft. I love a perimeter player who can score at all levels and doesn't require a lot of shots to do it.
The Bear is the largest carnivore on the North American continent; beware the Bear!

I really hope not but in today's landscape, coaches are having to recruit their own kids every year. Horne and Reeves are definitely going to turn some heads. If not after this season, after next. Keeping those two together for four years would really, really benefit the program. They're roommates, so hopefully the brotherhood/friendship they share is enough to keep them together at ISU at a long time.

I know how it works.

If I were an ISU fan the concern with Horne isn't that he will be recruited away by someone else, but the fact that he is from Georgia. Getting closer to home may interest him. The paranoia about "big schools" recruiting players from the MVC is over the top.

He's from North Carolina, but I understand your point. The concern with Reeves I think is more real because the rumor is that the late commitment was due to him waiting for an offer from Wisconsin. The Badgers were recruiting him and filled all their scholarships. Had one of their last recruits not committed the offer would've been extended and Reeves likely would've gone their. All to say, he's on some radars already.

It's just the way the game is now. Some guys leave who we don't want to leave, and some who we want to leave, do. ISU starts two transfers (Fisher and Hillsman) and plays three more quite a bit (Torres, Chastain and Boyd). We can't lament transfer culture and then also take advantage of it.

I don't think I was lamenting transfer culture. Every team has had a kid leave they didn't want to and brought a kid in from another team. I'm not one of those guys that expects any kid to be in one place for 4 years. Its the age we live in.

It's funny because with the talks of "all decade" teams and such someone over on Redbirdfan asked what would an all-decade team look like of 4-year guys from ISU? Jackie Carmichael, Paris Lee, Tony Wills, Keyshawn Evans, Madison Williams (retired from basketball but still with the team on scholarship). It's crazy to see that in 10 years there are only a handful of guys who used all of their eligibility at ISU. Not sure if that tracks around the MVC as it does at ISU.
