I have

Green
Freeman-Liberty
Krutwig
Key

After that I struggle to find the fifth player. I really don't like putting a player on their from a Thursday night team. Is it one of the Bradley 3? Is it Robbins? Berhow? Am I being unfair to a player like DeAndre Williams?

Through 5 conference games, Robbins is averaging 17.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 4.0 bpg. Those seem like 1st team all-conference numbers to me.

Robbins can play, I was very impressed with him when Drake beat Loyola. Those also seem like 1st team numbers to me.

It's great to have the kind of depth in the conference to make these decisions hard isn't it? I'm so glad to be here in the MVC. I can't express it enough.

Robbins is the player right now I dread being in the Valley for 2.5 more years. He is a beast, and putting up huge numbers right now. It appears his minutes have gone up significantly since conference play started. In his first 12 games, he only played over 25 minutes twice (averaged 22.5 minutes a game). In the last 6 games (Valley play and last non-conference game), he hasn't played less than 26 minutes (averaged over 29 minutes a game).

Was it a conditioning problem or did the staff just not realize he was that good? More minutes have definitely helped his numbers.

He was extremely foul prone his freshman season, and still had some foul problems during non-conference play. As the season has gone on, he's gotten much better at challenging shots without fouling. That has allowed his minutes to go up.

I realize this is a quibble in his game, but why isn't Robbins a better rebounder?

I understand it's been five league games but Krutwig isn't any more deserving right now than non AJ Green candidates. He's having a nice season but not a standout one.

In conference play, Krut is top 10 in scoring (#9), rebounding (#4) and assists (#4)....oh, and somehow #2 in steals. And #5 in blocks.

I mean...

He's also shooting just under 60%, and effectively playing point guard from the center position... I think the biggest thing that sets him apart from the non-Greens though is that his team is 4-1. A lot can definitely still change though! Way too early to confidently debate that award yet.

Right. And Nate Kennell is top 10 in scoring (4th), rebounding (6th), three point makes (2nd) and three point percentage (8th). Other guys like Key, Green, Freeman Liberty and Robbins also rank in the top 10 in numerous categories. I'm not anti Krutwig but he's no more a shoe in than the other guys listed. That's my point.

If Illinois States Copeland continues to play like he did last night, who knows, he was impressive.

People that have impressed me so far are Kennell, Liberty, AJ Green, Robbins, Copeland.

Why isn't Javon Freeman-Liberty listed as at least 1A alongside Green if not ahead of him? How have his numbers not been standout? Valpo isn't having the greatest year but that's no fault of Javon's.
