Berhow's stats during conference play really cooled off. He was off the chart during non-conference. Since we are talking about a conference award I understand it more.

I think people have a right to be complaining about a player than only played 8 conference games getting 2nd team though.

Berhow averaged one rebound more per game in MVC games and shot 2% points higher from two than Kennell--but Kennell was better in every other category.

But, yes, only rational people and people with common sense would go with Kennell over Berhow.

Personally I care about full season results and so should you. Do you honestly think Kennell's a better player than Berhow? Good grief.

Weren't you literally just over on the other discussion getting upset about Phyfe having better stats than Krut? If you're going to take the argument that pure conference stats alone should matter most, I hope you're ready to argue that Phyfe was by far and away the POY, because stats. Can't have it both ways.

And fwiw, I think Krut is better and I'm sure he was runner up POY. There are intangibles that go into these awards.

I don't use non-conference games when looking at conference awards. Totally irrelevant to me. I realize Berhow had monster games against instate rivals Luther and Cornell - but I will disregard those. People who vote for these awards use in league numbers. It's the same schedule for everyone. That's how it should be.

Phyfe didn't have better stats than Krutwig across the board. What are you talking about? Krutwig was in the top five in the league in scoring, rebounding and assists. That's really hard to do.

I agree on Childs. Is he one of the best 10 players in the league? Yes. But did he play enough to warrant awards? I can see that arguement.

And, yes, I looked at conference games when looking at awards, Berhow, Kennell, etc.

Your both using the stats differently depending on your argument.

If we are talking "better" player I will certainly take Berhow over Kennell. Same reason I might take Krutwig over Phyfe.

But if we are talking statistics/performance during conference play for conference awards Kennell>Berhow is fine as is Phyfe over Krutwig.

Saying Berhow just lit it up against D3 is kinda dumb also. He went a 25/39 (64%) the final 6 D1 non-con games which is simply incredible. 51% from 3 during non-con against D1 but he DID cool off in conference play shooting 37.5%.

I agree. All good players. Tough to choose and probably nice to spread it around the league if close.

SO MANY YOUNG PLAYERS! Next couple years should be fun in the Valley.

Here is the MVC POY using only conference play.

RK PLAYER TEAM SCORE
1 Austin Phyfe Northern Iowa 1.411
2 AJ Green Northern Iowa 1.286
3 Cameron Krutwig Loyola Chicago 1.117
4 Gaige Prim Missouri St. 0.962
5 Liam Robbins Drake 0.845

I'd be interested to see his formula, because there's 4 centers in the top 5. Or, maybe the MVC is finally becoming a big man's league.

So many young players....but how many of them will not come back? If the NCAA approves their no-sit-out transfer rule (as they're expected to) this spring, it will be open season on all of the MVC's top players.

DeAndre Williams and Freeman Liberty are the top two candidates to not be back.

Meh, I think Berhow should have been on it. But the folks who are there are there for a reason and Berhow did fade a little down the stretch. I love that Phyffe got first team.

Biggest question mark for me is Childs. Not saying he isn't one of the best players in the league, because he is. But he didn't even play in half the league games. How is he on here?
