Agreed. Maybe he just plays well against the Bears but, he has looked very tough both times we've seen him.

McD is a monster. LOVE how that kid plays. He's so smart, and really understands the game. Watching him live you get an appreciation for how good a passer he is as well. He's also the kid they went to down 1 with under a minute to go, on the road.

If McD isn't a 1st teamer thus far, who is?

Weems- POY

Lansing- COY (Martin's team was picked second, but has been more impressive with road wins)

having won his record 7th newcomer of the week award with 4 or 5 weeks to go, I would say the NOY award is McDermott's to lose. CU has played all but two of its scheduled games against the top 4 teams. In the 6 games against the best of the league, he is averaging 16.33333333 points and 9 rebounds, which is pretty close to his overall averages. He is now 4th in scoring and 3rd in rebounding in the league, and should be in the conversation for all conference at this point in time.

On a side note, CUs Tritz garnered an MVC record 6th newcomer of the week award on the women's side.

McD should be 1st teamer this year. He has the stats to back it up and is probably the most important player on Creighton's team.

Other 1st teamers, IMO, are:

Weems
Aleghbe
Durley
Warren

Here's a question: If you could pick one player from any team and add them to your team for this year, who would it be?
For the Shox, I'd like to have Aleghbe simply becuase we have no real point guard and he's the best one in the league. It would be hard to pass up Weems as a playmaker, but we really need a point.

I would also take Ahelegbe, for the same reason. The only two true point guards on Drake's team have been hurt all season, and it definitely shows in the results.

I'd love to see what Weems could do with Young, McD and Greg. Almost happened, glad it didn't. Can you imagine a lockroom with Vel, P and Weems!

As desperate as we are for wing play, Weems, Warren or even Colt Ryan is who I would have chosen.

If WSU is lucky enough to win the regular season title, would any single player garner an individual award?

I'd vote for Durley. He's the player in the leage i'd grab from someone else unless I went with Little Mac because he's a Frosh.
