Odum is playing about a minute less per game but is averaging half the rebounds and half the points of McDermott. I realize it will play out over the course of the season, but FOY is going to be based on actual contribution on court. Right now, McD is the clear front runner with Rice close on his heels, IMO. All the others are trailing the pack hoping one of the leaders should stumble.

Agree, except McD is not the CLEAR front runner...maybe front runner by a nose. Rice and McD are men among boys when it comes to MVC frosh, but those two are in a heated race for post season accolades.

The only reason McD is in the lead for me is McD went for 28 and 10 in head to head while Rice was fairly invisible that night. No they don't guard each other but head to head means something to me. Rice will probably end up scoring more as CU figures out how to incorporate the two centers at the same time more which will eat into McD's minutes.

Good gravy.....when will it end at ISU? Just for the sake of this discussion, I've seen Odum, Rice and Mac.
There is NO comparison. NONE. I am sure Odum is a nice player for a team that's been in the playin round of the Valley for almost all of the past decade, but when your team is competing for something a little more than 6th place, you need better players. I know you like him, and he's a local guy and a tough kid. He's a nice player.
He is NO Doug McDermott or Rayvonte Rice.
