I've been no great fan of Barry but maybe he's finally getting it. He scheduled fantastically this year and there's a ton of talent coming in. He might finally have that program up and running in the post-Wichita MVC.

Do Saluki fans want Hinson to win...? Gonna be a lot of holes in the roster going into next season and i'd assume he'd sign a decent contract if they were to make a run at it this season...

*I say this only because most SIU fans don't see to love Barry.

Actually that's a great question. Saluki fans want the team/players to do well, not necessarily Hinson. There's too much information to post here regarding the reasons why Hinson rubs people the wrong way. I have gotten use to him. It is what it is. Hoping for a nice season with meaning, as it's been a while for any type of post season in The Dale.

And this is the biggest reason I want SIU to do well this year.... Look somewhere else!

IF things were to head south this year, and no tournament appearance for Hinson, he'll be gone. Mullins being an SIU alum and former player would jump at the chance to coach there. Really a no brainer IMO.
Go Salukis!

I love Mullins. He was a great player who gave SIU basketball his all (floor burn u). But I'm not excited about the prospects of him being the head coach. He is young and had no head coaching experience. just because he was a great player doesn't mean he will be an excellent coach. They aren't the same things. Heck, look at Chris L.

Sycamores come back to beat D2 Truman State this afternoon, we were trailing in the 2nd half, then came back to get the 8 point win 77-69

We get our two transfers back for our next game at TCU

J you are correct. Being a former player does not guarantee a successful head coach. Mullins was very instrumental in Loyolas Final Four run last Spring. He is also responsible for the recruitment of some strong frosh and sophs on the team. His father runs a AAU team too so there's that connection. Lowery started off well, but than got satisfied and therefore lazy. If Hinson continues to schedule up and win, I'm okay with him.

Exactly. I think Marty Simmons could weigh in on this conversation. On second thought, weighing in might not be a good idea.

Valpo gets a much needed road win over an A-10 foe as the Crusaders down GW 82-79. Valpo hit 15 3s in the game. Fazekas and Evelyn hit 6 3's each. Javon Freeman had a solid 15 points. Smits went for 11 and 9 despite drawing consistent double teams and Deion Lavender added 10 assists. I like the balance Valpo has shown all year on offense. If the shooting becomes more consistent we could be in for a decent year.
