Let’s not forget, without Covid 3 (Primm, Mosley, Clay) of MSU’s starter’s would not be playing this year, so how good would they be? 5 of top 6 (Hemphill, Murphy, Penn, Wilkins, Brodie, Sturtz) of Drakes players would not be playing this year, so how good would they be? My guess is DeVries will be gone in April along with Drakes top seven players, leaving the Bulldogs playoff on Thursday in March 2023 along with the MSU Bears.
Well close. you got two out of five correct for Drake. Murphy and Hemphill wouldn't be here. Everybody else you mentioned would. And will be next year if they want.
My bad. Hard to keep track when they are all 24 years old. They will be 25 years old if they return in 2022-23

They're not the only MVC teams with super sr or immediate transfer eligible players, but whatever.

You are correct, just the two that stand out the most to me. I know Loyola has Williamson & Uguak that are two of their starters. Top 3 teams in conference: Loyola, Drake, Missouri State.

Wardle's coaching trajectory is starting to look more like Jim Les at this point. He's never finished higher than 4th in Conference, and had some success at the MVC tournament. He definitely makes some really questionable coaching decisions with substitution patterns for sure. I continue to hope he evolves and figures it out as we have really nice pieces this year that he brought in. Terry Roberts, Malevy Leons, and Connor Hickman are very solid Valley players.

Dana Ford is an interesting case. He can definitely recruit players for sure, and they improve under him. I question his in game coaching though. For sure it was a great move to put Clay on Terry Roberts to start the game as Terry was definitely bothered by the physical play. MSU was just bullying their way to the hoop to get lay-ups in the first half. They stopped doing that in the second half, and settled for chucking a lot more 3's then which allowed Bradley to make their comeback in the 2nd half, especially when the Braves got hot from 3.

I'll give MSU credit, they hit 2 clutch 3's when it counted in the last 90 seconds of the game, although the first one should not have happened as the ref's missed an egregious travel call in the lane before the shot.

Just say, “Sorry guys. I was wrong and don’t know what I’m talking about.” It’s easy!

Wardle admits he takes a long time figuring out his rotation and minutes. Reassesses every 4 games at least. This probably plays into the slow starts that tend to heat up in late February. While we usually come into Arch Madness dangerous (except last year with the Childs fiasco), we spend most of the season living on the play-in game edge.

Looking forward to the Northern Iowa @ MSU game. I would guess the Bears will win, but the Panthers have really played well the last two games. Should be fun. I wouldn't say Drake at EU is a given...as we all know, there are no easy wins on the road.

I, too, would be mad if my team lost this game.

That said, it's just a bad take, that doesn't even take into account the equation would also change if those players left (I.E. scholarships and playing time would open, meaning other transfers or recruits could take those spots).

The "if you they didn't have ____" argument is always short-sighted and fails to understand it's not Prim or an empty spot on the bench. You do get to use the scholarship on another player, and Ford's strength is recruiting, so I have no doubt they would have another good player in that spot.

Add to it Bradley has Mikey Howell on their roster, who has played more than 300 minutes on the season, whom they would not have without COVID and it's even more silly take to put out there.

You really probably should just stop while you're behind.

And maybe your Bears will be able to beat the Birds in Springfield (something they couldn’t do in Normal). Sad for you that the game in Normal probably cost the Bears any chance of winning the MVC Championship!
