Gregg Marshall has agreed to a seven year extension on his contract with an immediate 100k pay increase. With his current retention bonus structure, he stands to make $1,400,000.00 next year (not including post-season bonuses)!

It's a great day to be a major program!

It's a great day to be a Shocker!

how much of a raise did you get at QuickTrip for completing your 5th year anniversary? Cold, seriously, GM is paid very good money but we all know his loyalty to WSU will really be tested when the South Carolina job opens up, which will likely be in the next year or two. I'm glad we can afford to attract top notch coaches because we're going to need it when he bolts. I hope I'm wrong.

Franky, I'm jeoulous of schools like UNI that have been able to get more with less. That's what you call maximizing your investment.

1.4 million for NIT appearances? I don't know why you keep boasting about that, I think Marshall is getting the best out of that deal...you know "if" and when you finally make it to the NCAAs, he will be looking for another job.

Slight difference between "NIT appearance" and winning the NIT. Disparage it all you want, it beats anything CU has accomplished in a long time.

And 2 big programs (at least) have already begged 3G to be their coach and he has decided that WSU is the superior choice. It's good to have options....it means you're doing something right.

If WSU and Creighton had football programs I doubt their basketball coaches would be raking in the $$$$$$$$
that they are receiving.

Probably. And that is perfectly fine with me. Little league football doesn't get my competitive juices flowing.

If InSU didn't have a football program, maybe they'd be more competitive in the other sports in which MVC teams compete at the highest level on a regular basis.

UNI has a football team (the best one in the MVFC) and does just fine elsewhere in the conference.

The same could be said with SIU...until Lowery took the basketball program over.

Indiana St. would have sucked regardless of their football situation.

Marshall is a good coach, but is very overpaid compared to everyone else. He has zero conference titles of any kind and yet is the highest paid coach by a pretty wide margin.

UNI gets the best coach in the conference (who just turned down a very good B12 job that would pay about 1.4 million) for about 500K....

If Marshall wasn't paid what he is being paid, it's possible we'd have a different coach right now. It's likely that no matter what we pay him he's going to leave anyways, but it comforts me that we're doing everything in our power to keep him here.

Doubt it.
