So if the success of the Valley Tournament is dependent on SIU's on-court success, why not rotate it places closer to larger fanbases who support their schools no matter what?

This doesn't even factor in the fact that the Sprint Center blows the Scottrade Center completely out of the water.

I've never opposed a rotation with Kansas City. The main argument against that is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Well, it may not be broke, but there are some cracks and scuff marks here and there. If Kansas City was a little more of a destination city, it would be a no brainer. If they moved the thing to Vegas, I'd go every year!

Its success is not "dependent on SIU". It is just a little bit "better" when they are good. Even when SIU is about as bad as they have been in the last 20 years, the MVC tournament is still one of the more successful conference tournaments in the country.

STL is a good town, it has been a great host, and Arch Madness has been a very successful tournament over a long period of time.

And it all but eliminates the successes of a team like Missouri State that gutted it out all season. Who deserved a bid more this season, Bears or Trees? NOT EVEN CLOSE.

All it does is reinforce the reach around mentality of the Valley of Even.

I'd kill to lose the games at the end of the year and replace them with 1 buy home game, and 2 tough roadies, or 1 extra tournament and take my chances of building an at large resume assuming my team didn't win the regular season title.

Sycamore fans love the tournament the way it is...............vs. Evansville W 52-50, vs. Wichita State W 61-54 and in the championship game vs. Missouri State W 60-56 = Missouri Valley Conference Tourney Champions. Can't say both "primary contenders" MSU & WSU didn't get a face to face opportunity to advance vs. the ultimate champ ? Toughen up your schedule and go as an at-large. You hear it over and over and over again.........do it! Apparently and obviously the national media and the selection committee didn't think either team was as good as their fanbase thinks they were .................duh ?

My question is why are MVC fans suprised that 3 seed found a way to win it? Wasn't like ISU hadn't earned their way there and were a bugaboo for the regular season champs ALL YEAR

I think there will always be an element of surprise was a relatively unknown team takes down the top 2 seeds. That may have been because most looked at the MVC as a two team race and the regular season did finish that way, but no one can discredit ISU for what they accomplished.

I agree with that, the only thing that bothers me is the "the hot team for three days" like ISU was terrible for the rest of the year.

Well, in the non-con InSU was a pretty lackluster 5-6, with losses against pretty bad teams in Wyoming and Eastern Kentucky...

Everyone brings that up but IN CONFERENCE, which seems to be the situation in question...ISU was 12-6 and finished 3rd in conference.
Edit: ISU was a different team down the stretch, finally figured out the offense and gave Odum the Keys to the car instead of running things through Lathan and Kelly.

AND.....Lansing hadn't solidified his player rotation in non-conference play which made a HUGE difference in the way the team played...when he did in conference it was a completely different team.
