I don't necessarily buy it, but this report says OU is done with the Big 12:

But according to the report's sources, the Sooners' minds were -- and are -- already made up. They're looking West:

"There's nothing Texas could have offered Oklahoma that would have changed their mind. They were set on leaving the Big 12 before Texas got there," a well-placed source at a Big 12 school said, adding that Sunday's meeting had a very friendly and cooperative tone. "The Big 12's done. Oklahoma wasn't open to creating Big 12 stability" ...

"Texas must have come into the meeting and seen the handwriting on the wall," said a source close to OU and Texas who is familiar with these realignment issues. "I think OU and OSU will seek membership to the Pac-12 in the next two weeks, but [Texas] A&M comes first."

I find it hard to see, but there's a rumor that if Oklahoma and Okie St go to the PAC12 that the Big 12 might hold itself together by adding CUSA football schools such as SMU, Houston, Rice and add BYU while adding non-football schools (read: MVC) already in the footprint of the conference.

If it stays together, they should think about going after Memphis as well.

OU and OSU aren't the only 2 the Pac12 would take. They would want to get to 16. Who else goes? Boise? I can't imagine academically they would fit yet. Tech? KU? Texas? Mizzou?

If OU and OSU leave, I can't imagine Mizzou and KU stick around to try and keep things together. I think they would rather be in the SEC or Big East and finish 8-4 every year than play in a watered-down Big12

Teams like ISU, KSU, and Baylor will have to find new homes. I guess their state legislators can always work to keep them in a BCS with their other BCS brethren (KU, Iowa)

Basically Texas needs to play king in all of this and offer some financial concessions to current teams to stay while inviting a few teams who would do anything to get into a conference with an AQ so to add stability. (BYU, Boise St., Memphis, SMU, Houston...).

I think any rumor that would keep the Big 12 intact would be only if Texas remained. It doesn't sound like they want to go to the PAC 12. If only the Oklahoma schools left, I think Kansas, K-State, Mizzou, Iowa State, Texas Tech, and Baylor would also remain in the Big 12. Then it becomes a matter of trying to lure teams to the Texas conference.

Not sure why they would add those and not also look at Tulsa then as well. Have a hard time thinking KSU and Kansas will want to add WSU as a non-football school unless they are really desperate. Creighton, I could see as being more palatable. Don't see Bradley, Evansville or Drake being pursued. Maybe MSU if they agree to drop football?

Sign me up for any change that gets us out of the Valley. I think Creighton and Wichita State primarily have everything in place to be among the elite mid-majors except for the conference we play in.

Well, except for the pesky dominating the conference or at least winning the conference title with regularity part.
