Jank staying would be good for the MVC.

Agree on that DUBulldog that if would be good for the Valley if Jank did indeed stay.

He's a good recruiter, runs a solid program, and he's a good spokesman for the MVC.

Always keep it rockin' in The Valley...ooo yeah!! :buddies:

DU-

If Phelps were to be let go, would you want Drake to hire Jank?

Should Jank leave ISURed for the Hilltop this would be the second time in the last three years that a sitting head coach has left to be an assistant elsewhere. Bad, bad for the image of the Valley.

If I was Jank I'd go because the Methodists will pay for a winner. Their rich boosters won't tolerate losing. Wish we had that mentality in this conference. Sigh.

It's not "mentality" Son, it's $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$..................................SMU has it, most of the Valley doesn't. Sometimes poor decisions by people handling the money contribute also......ala SIU.

+1

Plus, SMU's boosters certainly pay, but winning is another matter altogether.

Their football team has had one head coach with a winning record (that guy was 16-15-1) since the 1940s, when you exclude the cheating seasons that got them the death penalty.

Their basketball team has been so bad no one has bothered to create a Wikipedia page :D

Seriously, their hoops team has been nothing to write home about either. They've probably had what most would call good seasons about five times since 1966. They haven't been to a postseason tournament they didn't pay for in a dozen years and haven't seen the NCAAs since 1993.

SMU football would have won big without all of the cheating. Ron Meyer was too good of a collegiate coach to allow them to be anything but successful. I truly admire their boosters. Sure they got carried away but they were passionate and donated cash. Here in the Valley few schools have that. SMU has been atrocious in basketball make no mistake but they are about to become a top 20 power because they swung for the fence and decided they won't tolerate the losing. When SIUC got fed up with the losing they hired Barry Hinson a good man who is a basketball loser. SMU hired Larry Brown who is basically a known cheater but a sure fire winner. They don't care about that stigma they want wins. And that was my gripe when we didn't even interview Bruce Pearl last spring.

Ron Meyer was 34-32-1 as SMU coach. In fact, he was there six years and was terrible for four. He cheated and won. Funny how that works.

Good to know you admire cheaters and those who support them.

When SMU is a top 20 basketball power I'll never comment on another of your posts again.

Larry Brown did his presser at SMU today. No mention of Jank. Jank was in Minnesota on a recruiting trip over the weekend and is at his office today in Redbird Arena. Supposedly was meeting with the team today. Whether it is to say bye or put the rumors to rest is unknown.

The more this is dragging out, the more I think he is staying.

our beat writer tweated this....

Pg_Benson Tim Jankovich at Redbird Arena office today .... meaning he is still Illinois State's basketball coach. Stay tuned.
