Good grief...everything that gets posted on these boards isn't fact. Edwardsville we go independent before Carbondale becomes a satellite campus.

Exactly. Most people don't realize that Carbondale gave Edwardsville programs such as nursing to get started.
There have been many factors that have attributed to the SIU decline. Multiple chancellor's, multiple presidents, lack of funds from the state, students attending junior college, and universities such as SEMO and Murray State recruiting local students by offering in state tuition, scholarships, and other incentives. Randy Dunn was the SIU systems President and was a slimeball. The Southern Illinois University is one of two research universities in the state. It also is home to a.medical school, law school, top aviation, communication, and engineering programs.
Big improvements are on the way. This school is going no where!

1. The medical school is going to be transferred to Edwardsville further declining admission.
2. I predict SIU will get low enough they drop down to D2 within 25 years.
3. SIU-E will be in the Valley.

LOL...and the Illinois State Redturds are going to get an invite to join the BIG 12. I wasn't responding to you, but it sure does sound like you know your facts.

Nobody is leaving the valley in the form of moving up.

I agree with you that no one is moving up. Bradley has been bad for too long and Loyola would need a ten year run of excellence plus their arena is too small to move up substantially (although I'm cool with that, catching a game at the Gentile Center is really cool).

I disagree that SIU is immune from dropping out of the Valley. What happens in a nightmare scenario where SIU drops below 10K enrollment in a few years? What if enrollment then keeps falling? It's a viable what-if scenario, as student fees fund a large large portion of college athletics. One thing that helps the Valley immensely is the relative geographical density of its member schools, cutting down on travel costs.

That's one of the things large non P5/6 leagues like the AAC have going against them. A school like SMU can literally throw money at a problem until it goes away. A school like East Carolina (which frankly doesn't belong in the conference), might be less willing to go into the red.

15 points at halftime. Shox lose 54-41. Wow, they're really that bad. Probably a Thursday night MVC team.
