Exactly. Most people don't realize that Carbondale gave Edwardsville programs such as nursing to get started.
There have been many factors that have attributed to the SIU decline. Multiple chancellor's, multiple presidents, lack of funds from the state, students attending junior college, and universities such as SEMO and Murray State recruiting local students by offering in state tuition, scholarships, and other incentives. Randy Dunn was the SIU systems President and was a slimeball. The Southern Illinois University is one of two research universities in the state. It also is home to a.medical school, law school, top aviation, communication, and engineering programs.
Big improvements are on the way. This school is going no where!
