I wasn't guessing. I was going off what I heard from people I trust. Sometimes people are wrong.

But congrats on winning the message board "got ya" award.

It's probably also because you feel obligated to say things like this nearly every post.

Belmont lost its top 6 players..

Geez...

This is why you have to look beyond individual team performance when you expand. You have to look at infrastructure, institutional commitment, etc. - the boring and sometimes hard-to-quantify stuff.

Loyola is a good example - they had the capacity, but not the pedigree. In comparison, Valpo had the better results, but not the same capacity.

I think Belmont and Murray State are going to be fine. UIC is a question mark to me and could go either way.

Do you mean "fine" as in really fine, or as in when your wife tells you everything is "fine"?

UIC Guard Damaria Franklin is looking into his professional opportunities. He hasn’t hired an agent and has one year of eligibility remaining if he chooses (he’s a Senior). Averaged 17.8 PPG and 6.9 RPG while being named Third Team Horizon League.

He isn’t close to anything NBA material. We had a similar player last year do this and did end up with a European league after some time and could see that happening here. Can be a little careless with the basketball but was really the lone impactful upperclassman on the roster. Still can possibly return so will see but a tough loss IMO

It's UNI or Pro Ball in the States. If the choice is Europe or UNI, it's going to be UNI.

He's going through the NBA process so we likely won't know anything until mid-May.

Any Iowa State rumor you hear is BS.

The Redbirds may or may not be getting a transfer from Virginia. A tweet announcing his commitment was shared this morning but removed shortly after. Speculation is that he is preparing to visit and it might look sketchy committing during the dead period right before the visit.

A Mineral, VA. native, Malachi Poindexter (6'2 guard) turned down a D1 offer to play at Manhattan to walk-on at UVA. It appears he'd have three years of eligibility if he utilized the COVID year. He played in 19 games this season, including 13 minutes at Duke where UVA won 69-68, so it would suggest a his minutes were valuable despite not stuffing the stat sheet. He's leaving UVA in hopes for a bigger role on another team.

So far the Birds have Strong, Reeves, Alston Andrews, and Abdou in the portal. The Simpkins twins (guards out of NC) are still committed so far. If Poindexter commits, that leaves just one remaining scholarship as of now. That said, more guys are going to enter for sure because Pedon needs to get some size in the building. Ryan Schmitt and Liam McChesney haven't made their decisions yet and Sy Chatman is coming off an ACL injury so the market for his transfer could be small.

It seems like the only scholarship guys I feel pretty good about sticking around are Howard Fleming and Kendall Lewis. I think the roster will look pretty different in 4-6 weeks.

Redbirds add a hometown kid, 5th year senior guard from Bloomington, Colton Sandage. Spent the last couple of years at Western Illinois, averaging around 13 ppg. Before that, won a juco title at Vincennes. Good kid to bring in to help kick off the new era.

Take Marcus Domask off the list. The only two Salukis who are leaving are Dembele, who has not played in a couple of years, and Kyler Filewich, who would have competed for minutes with the redshirt freshman Ebube, and Mulia, and possibly Hornecker, the 7 foot freshman.
