I respect that opinion, and people who actually back it up with facts make me respect their opinion even more...but it's wrong.
You can't look at the beginning of the season for the Syc's for anything. In order to see what kind of team they are, you really have to look at the conference body of work ONLY, because the team completely changed going into the conference season with Odum getting the keys to the car. He is not the second coming of anyone, but the team dynamic/style definitely changed. Add to that the fact that we have a first year coach who changed the offensive scheme and turned up the intensity on the defensive side, and you can start to understand why it took a while to get the house in order.
The Syc's average margin of victory in their conference games was 9.
They created the most turnovers/game in the conference.
They held teams to the worst shooting percentage in the conference.
They were in the top half of the conference in scoring margin.
They were in the top three in rebounding in the conference.
They beat every team in the conference at least one time. (UE and WSU in the conference tournament)
I understand being upset. I understand feeling slighted. I get it, really. But what does putting down the third place team in the conference that beat you twice do? Nothing, except give other people more firepower to say, "LOOK HOW WEAK THE VALLEY IS!"
And on the ISUb side, WTF? We're in THE tournament. Our TEAM played its best at the right time. That's awesome. Let the guys actions stand for themselves...stop getting so riled up every time someone says something negative. If you have a beef...come back with some facts to back it up. All the constant does is serve to get a thread locked.
With that said...GO SYCS...and congrats to the Valley teams on the 5-0 start to the postseason!
