Get to 16, unbalance the schedules so that the top 2 can manage the NET and get 2 in each year.
The Split from 2/16 is better than 1/10.

If you are gonna move, better move big and figure it out.

I don’t disagree with your philosophy, but absolutely no to Dakotas. 0 travel upside, increased market, recruiting. Drain on budgets. I’d want Drake to leave the Valley (which I don’t) before adding those awful travel situations.

I was home during my lunch hour watching some games and thinking, "man it would be cool to add a full day of Arch Madness!" I still say do everything you can to add Murray State and Belmont to get to 12, and then hold off on further expansion until some dust settles. Getting to 12 games would allow Thursday to be more of a "first round" of Arch Madness, instead of being considered the "play in round." The 5-12 seeds would play Thursday, and then Friday would be the 1-4 seeds with the Thursday winners. Then the tournament would proceed as usual. I'm all in for this! I would love to spend 2 straight days with 10 hours of hoops! Plus, those teams' fans who don't make it to Saturday will still feel like they "experienced" Arch Madness. I never want to see the MVC needing a double-bye. Ever.

I am totally against any Dakotas. To the point I would be all for Bradley leaving the conference if it happened. I was for Loyola joining, but did not anticipate the jump they made. That was a bonus. It makes me much more positive about Northern Kentucky than I used to be. NKU, Belmont, and Murray are top of my list. With Wright State an ok.

And you'd have Bradley go where? The Summit?

1. Bradley fans think they are going to the Atlantic-10 when a couple of those teams inevitably leave. The funny thing is they overlook their own athletic department that recently thought about dropping down to D2 because of financial burdens but some think adding more expense in the form of travel costs to join the A-10 is feasible. Not to mention the fees involved.

2. I love the proposal to move to 16. It will never happen but would strengthen the league. Hopefully, one of the six ends up being he home run that the MVC needs to take Wichita State's spot.

Is it possible (or likely) - if the MVC sits on its hands - for the OVC will make a couple of strategic moves and leapfrog the Valley?

For that to happen they'd have to add Lipscomb and have 2\3-3\4 of their membership finally decide that they give a rip about basketball.

Horizon or Ohio Valley

I haven't heard any Bradley fans that think that.
I assume Bradley will be in the Valley for a long time. I just hope the Valley makes the right moves.

There's a long shot idea brought up on our board. Since the MVC schools and/or conferences' head brass don't want Murray, I say we start our own conference. We did it once, we could do it again. First off, let's face facts here. The OVC is never going improve. I've been attending Racer games since I'm 10 years old when Martin and Mann were running the show and every year, the league seems to get worse. Schools like UTM, SIUE, Tennessee Tech, TSU...they don't give a damn about improving the league. Another fact is that a lot of schools, especially at our level, are having financial issues and would love to cut costs. Here's the league I propose:

Murray
Belmont
Lipscomb
Northern KY
SIUC
Evansville
APSU
EKU
Morehead
SEMO

This would be a highly competitive league and one that would rank far better than the current OVC and probably rival the MVC. The travel cost savings would be extraordinary. Possibly a multi bid league yearly. Of course, this is all a pipe dream, but it never hurts to dream.

I am 100% all for this. This would be a great league with or without the Dakotas.
