I can't see him going out and recruiting on the universities dime while this is all going on if he weren't staying. It also sounds like Brown might be hanging around as head coach for maybe 5 years. He wants to be there for the long haul, but hopes whoever he gets underneath him will get a crack when he's gone. I don't think Jank wants to wait that long. He is definitely making the right move by staying at ISU. Now he just needs to work on that whole scheduling thing.

Is he staying or is he going? I have not heard one peep from the ISU website.

Since Jank won't make comments on this type of stuff, we probably won't know he is staying (100% sure) until someone else accepts the SMU position. Personally, I think he is sticking around for next year. I don't know why you would go on a recruiting trip on the heels of this decision and leave. It would kind of add insult to injury if he were to accept the SMU position after he flew out to Minnesota on ISU's dime and Jank doesn't strike me as that type of guy. Especially with his demeanor when it comes to even talking about other jobs.

If his making an ISU recruiting trip indicates a commitment to staying, why wouldn't he just hold a presser and stop all the rumors and speculation?

It's weird. Janks official position is to only comment on the job he currently has. So he would never confirm nor deny that an interview with SMU even took place.

Couldn't you say "I'm staying" without mentioning any other school?

Just like no one knew Larry Brown would be the coach at SMU before Monday? Come on, as much as this Jank talk to SMU has been reported you will know if Jank turns them down. That hasn't happened. As long as this drags out, signs point to Jank not being the guy you think he is.

If the 'Birds do as well as expected (i.e. 23+ wins, NCAA bid, etc). Is Jank definitely gone? If so, where? There must be coaches that are already on the hot seat.
