SIU went up 16 with about 8:00 left and nearly lost it. 2-0 on the road in the Valley though and both games felt similar.

Apparently we were watching different games. My assessment from my seat at the game was the refereeing was poor and favored Drake not UE.

Thanks, I needed a good laugh this morning.

Drake was called for 23 fouls, UE for 13. I'll admit my bias, and I'll say it's definitely possible that one team fouled twice as much as the other. But, not sure how you can think the officiating was biased toward the team that was called for twice as many fouls.

Pretty much every poster on Drakenation brought up the officiating in their game comments. I know we're all biased, but this was the most I've ever seen officiating mentioned on one of our game threads.

Maybe the officials were just really, really bad.

Saturday Night in The Valley remains a real thing. Not having access to the same level of officiating we do mid-week gets more and more obvious every year.

Going from guys that work deep into the tournament every year to guys that work 25 games a year total is a staggering difference and, unfortunately, doesn't really have a solution other than playing Sundays since the Big 12 is all Saturday.

You have a good point there. The three referees for the game were Kelly Self, Chase Shaw, and Kevin Driver. Self has worked 26 games this season, Shaw 16 games, and Driver 3 games.

I don't know who the officials were in the MSU-UNI game, but I thought they were a little whistle happy the last several minutes....great game.

When that game is played in Des Moines it will be the other way. Guaranteed.

No one in the country plays more physical man-to-man defense than Loyola. Yet yesterday in an OT game they were only called for 15 fouls???? Bradley had 22.

You learn to expect that on the road (doesn't make it right). The only real call that was awful in the Bradley game was the four-point play call on Williamson. Just absolutely god awful and you can't make that call there. Especially when "flopping" is supposedly a point of interest.

I don't think Wardle even complained about that call. He might have hit Williamson's hand AND he crashed right into the landing spot.
