Dayton and Minnesota also missed the NCAAs last year.
Normally the Old Spice is by far my favorite Thanksgiving tourney. A lot can change from pre-season expectations, but right now this year's field doesn't look very good.
Should? SHOULD?? You know, you're right. Jake Odum will undress Jahii Carson when they match up. No comparison. SHOULD?
Well at least we know the conference RPI will be up next year. Looking forward to replacing losses to Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, Loyola and Wyoming with wins over Arizona State, Minnesota and Texas Tech.
Some of you are making the entire league look like a collection of persons served. Should........
Indiana State beat DePaul by 22 points last year. And you do know that Arizona State and Wake Forest finished in dead last in their respective leagues? My argument has nothing to do with the strength of the Valley, or even my expectations for Indiana State. This Old Spice field is GOD AWFUL... the worst I've ever seen it. Tech has a completely new roster and hasn't been relevant in about four years. Minnesota finished 1-10 down the stretch last year. Dayton won 7 games in the A-10.
Maybe those teams will see some surprise improvement next year. Who knows? But if you're looking at the field based on pre-season expectations, Fairfield and Indiana State are probably the best teams there. ISU is the only team that made the NCAAS from this field, and Fairfield won its league's regular season title. Both bring back the majority of their rosters. I know how insane that sounds, but in this case it's not a mid-major bias. Those teams are terrible. Arizona State, Wake Forest, DePaul, Texas Tech, Dayton and Minnesota would not have finished in the top 3 of the Valley last year.
