Now, tell me how much of a chance Murray would have against Notre Dame in basketball? How much money does the NCAA basketball tournament pay schools/conferences vs how much the FCS playoffs pay? You really want to erase history by doing what football has accomplished? You know what? SEMO made the Division II final four three times. Guess how many people cared or even know that? IAA basketball will create the following:

Less revenue
Lesser talent
Less games on TV
Less attendance
Less booster support
No chance to beat power schools

Sorry, but I'll take making the round of 32 and done vs winning a meaningless IAA basketball title.

This. I could not possibly have said it better.

I’m afraid that it won’t be our choice. It will be forced upon us because idiot AD’s voted to give the P5 total control of the NCAA.

That may very well be the case, but to wish for it? No...hell no. Oh and March Madness would suffer via ticket sales and TV ratings if the smaller schools weren't allowed to play. People want to see the underdog triumph. It's human nature. More people would rather see Maryland/Belmont play each other than two mediocre ACC teams battling.

You stated this perfectly. Splitting DI basketball into two or three divisions would be a total disaster for those in the lower tier(s).

But If you are hoping to convince MOST you are going to be disappointed. He doesn't respond to logic.

I did the math a few days ago.

This year 46% of P6 schools made the NCAA tournament. Only 10% of schools not in a P6 league made it.

Simply put, if you think the gap is getting bad now, just wait, it's going to get a lot worse.

BB is BB. HS through D1. The American game. Most of us on this forum grew up with great NAIA and D2 BB. I live outside KC. JKC hosted the men's 2019 NAIA national championsips (oldest MBB tourney---dates I think from 193?). NW MO State just won the D2 MBB championship (NW MO 85 miles up the road from KC--had 2 KC area HS grads on in the stating 5). KC KS CC just won the D2 JUCO WBB championships. Its all great BB. D1 and D1AA would be better BB. In the current configuration the first 2 days of March Madness is a thin the herd exercise (cuts the field to 48). I think a whole lbunch of "D1AA" schools will like a tournament of their peers with a chance to play for national recognition/title!

If they want it, they can choose to drop to D2. Since they haven’t, I assume they don’t want that.

Completely hopeless. I grew up watching Murray. You know, Division I basketball. Oh well, every message board has that one poster.

I remember when SE Missouri was a top D2 team along with SMS/MO State, SIU, Evansville, Central Mo, NE Mo, Etc. They all went big time D1. SIU down, MO State midlde or lower MVC, Central Mo still a successful as a D2, Evansville great D2 --up and down D1. Don't think UNI or Il State ever a D2 power.
IN State peaked as a D1 10-15 years ago after a very very good D2 history starting in the 30s. Dont recall
UNI or Il State ever being a D2 power. Bradley up and down. Good/top MMs could not sustain their D2 histories--too much same size competition in D1, rising costs to compete, etc. The question would be in D1AA can they be as good, generate as much fan support, generate as much revenue as the piecemeal cold potato they get in D1

If football is any indicator, the answer to all of your questions is a resounding No
