Colt Ryan is out of bounds but doesn't have control of the ball, there is no call.

You can't be serious. He made a play on the ball - stripped the ball from Smith - while he was out of bounds. The correct call is to blow the play dead with the ball going to Butler.

My goodness.

Don't stress. sixth ace isn't the brightest. Control has nothing to do with it. He's out of bounds and touches the ball before establishing himself as in bounds. How the official, standing right there, missed it is baffling.

SubGod22, if the player in question knocks the ball out of the hands of the Butler player, is the last person to touch the ball, then proceeds to go out of bounds, then come back in bounds and establishes himself in bounds, but is the first person to touch the ball, is that still not a violation? I thought in an instance like that someone else had to at least touch the basketball before that person could legally get the ball.

Maybe I am just too old, lol.

It used to be that way. If you have re-established yourself in bounds, you are free to be the first to touch the ball. I know when I was younger, someone else had to touch it first. Rules change every few years to some degree. At least at the Federation level. Not sure about the NCAA as I don't keep as up to date with those.

So we'll call it a blown call. If Andrew Smith is strong with the ball and doesn't let a much smaller player take it from him, he doesn't have to worry about the official making a call. Moreover, if Smith hits a free throw at the end of regulation, he isn't even in that situation.

Seriously? I don't think I have ever seen a statement that is so utterly wrong before.

We don't use NFL rules in college basketball, sixth ace. Possession is irrelevant.

Remind me to permanently dismiss any comments that sixth ace has on the rules of basketball in the future.

Seriously ...No! but you have a Horizon League Fan waltzing in to blow about one call in a game when their center,Adam Smith got away with a minimum of 6 nocall fouls. If their boy would hit freethrows this conversation doesn't exist. But to come into the opposing forum and post pixs about a controversial non call then I feel justified in making any asinine comment I care to. Even without this play UE wins by 1. Go back to the Horzon league and watch your officials. They will make mistakes too

There is no whining in life.

There is no whining in love.

There is no whining in war.

There is no whining in basketball.

Coogles, I am one of the biggest Butler fans on earth. I am. Do yourself a favor and never, ever blame the outcome of a game on ONE call. Smith committed 12 fouls and did not foul out. Please.

Hit your free throws and you go home winners. Anyway, I like your program, team, and coach. Good luck.

Stop the whining.
There is no difference between basketball and life. Give both your best and ignore the "fans" on the sideline.
