Good job Salukis on the effort and protecting home court. Sorry the Dogs couldn’t give you a better game - dogs apparently forgot how to play on the trip down.

I didn’t see any of the game. What happened? Good for Mullins. Carbondale won’t be an easy win for any team.

Southern Illinois lost a starter to injury and is down to like 8 players. They took the Drake big man out of the game early, played hard defense and rolled up a 26 point lead. Drake came out in the 2nd and quickly made it a close game, but then the Salukis buried them. Mullins has put together a good squad after Hinson trashed the place.

Yes, indeed! The future is bright in Carbonale! I've said it before (many times) and I'll say it again: The Valley needs a strong SIU! I hope Mullins succeeds...

I think this discussion topic was a huge hit! Shall I start the Week 4 discussion thread?

Come on now. This SIU team isn't better than last year's team. Maybe Mullins will get it going but lets not overdo it.

Who said that? Overdo what?

I said Mullins has put together a good team. How many players were left? Two or three? KenPom says they are 183 this year. KenPom says last year was 146. I say that's pretty good given the givens. Not much of a difference. Settle down.

You said hes put together a good team after Barry trashed the place. Barry didn't "trash" the place.

Green is a great scorer. Turnovers to assists is an issue and defense is suspect. Not a team guy.

Green seems decent enough when defending spotup shooters but has trouble with agile guys who penetrate. Washpun would’ve been his kryptonite. It’ll be interesting how Jacobson tries to hide him on D. Green is basically the antithesis of your vintage Panther teams as he’s absurdly boosting UNI’s offensive efficiency numbers but trading those signature UNI 58-54 wins for 78-70 wins.

I'm sorry guys. mudrafan from our board has found this place with his irrational hate for AJ Green.

You can go ahead and ignore him.

He hasn't been on PantherNation in about a week. Not surprised he found refuge here.

Also why are we comparing stats like rebounds for guys who have very different defensive roles. AJ Green isn't needed to crash the boards. Should we start comparing 3 pt% between Robbins and Krutwig? I'm not saying that it CAN'T be a relevant comparison, but it's one of the last things I'll care about when looking at their roles.

We're 1/3 of the way through the MVC season. Awfully early to be declaring outright winners, losers, NBA players, and everything else being pissed about in this thread. Let's relax and enjoy the season

I brought up rebounding because Freeman-Liberty rebounds very well for a guard and is in fact our leading rebounder. Since it could be used to bolster my head to head argument against Green (which I have since backed off of a bit somewhat) I used it and thought it was relevant. I think it should be considered relevant that JFL plays a similar spot on the floor to Green and is our team's leading rebounder (we don't really have a frontcourt to speak of though McMillan was good against ISU last time out) so we need guys lik JFL to step up in the rebounding department. I do agree that it's probably too early for this discussion anyway and it's best to relax and enjoy the season. There's a ton of basketball left and plenty of time for this discussion later. However, that is what this discussion thread is for is it not? Now go out and keep the multibid hopes alive and get yourselves ranked UNI. Would love to see a ranked team come to the ARC. (Yes I am openly rooting for UNI except against Valpo as I would for any MVC team with a shot at an at large.
