I was thinking the same thing about the Aces.

High roster turnover generally means first semester growing pains.

I don't see the optimism that Evansville will finish any better than 11th or 12th.

I'll be pretty surprised if they aren't pretty close to unanimously picked for 12th.

Illinois State and, most likely, UIC are going to be bad but not anywhere near as bad as Evansville will be.

Everyone has the right to be excited about new players coming to the roster including Evansville. But this year, I doubt they are better than last year. Hopefully for their sake, they made the right coaching hire and you see some dividends starting in 23-24. But I’d be shocked to see anyone (besides some homers) pick them 11th or better.

Not saying that the Aces will finish in the the top half of the league, nor the top 2/3, or the the top 3/4, but with the coaching, and players that have been brought in, I say that they will not finish last. We will see.

My main point is that every other team has also brought in exciting players. Personally, I think SIU has too. It’s not just about who Evansville brought in, but it’s compared to everyone else as well. But ultimately, you’re right. We will see!

What players have Evansville brought in are better than Shamar Givance, Juwaun Newton and Blake Sisley?

I don't think that players being 'better' is always the end-all answer to recruiting. The issue at UE is how the roster works as a unit under a new coaching regime. Any player can be better for one game, or two games. All of them can clank 8 shots in a row the very next day. If the new players are a better fit for the roster, it's a win for the team -- not the player.

It's not exactly that the players brought in are better then the ones from last year, but how they are coached to play that counts. The Aces as a whole won't be holding the ball for 28 seconds before they get off an unbalanced 3 point shot. They will be coached to play defense the right way. They will be coached how to get rebounds, both offensive, and defensive. Ragland has been associated with winning programs, and Snow, and Wilson both played for the Aces when they were a relevant program. They know what it takes to win, and they won't finish last in the MVC next season. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
