Butler

When is last time a valley team beat a final four team? Go butler!!! Stevens is class act and a pretty darn good coach. With Haywood, national champion? To think some were saying butler was overrated and not very good this year. Granted they are playing much better now then earlier in the year. But with the defense a good big man and guys that can shoot the ball all the makings of a very good team was there.

Butler WAS absolutely overrated coming into the tournament. Just because they are playing their best basketball of the season right now doesn't change the fact that their regular season resume was not deserving of an 8 seed.

Don't know, but SIU did beat Indiana the year they finished 2nd. (That's been a while ago.)

It's been at least as recently as the 2006 season when Creighton routed George Mason by 20 points on the road.

Are we talking the season they went to the FF or a team who had been in the FF the year before?

WSU knocked of Mason the day the put up their FF banner.
WSU also beat LSU the year after their FF run.
I also believe Syracuse had been in the FF the same year.

Doesn't mean much.

Well, considering ODU, Mason, Richmond, and Utah State all got screwed the wrong way with their seeds, it at least starts to even it out.

They were waaaay overseeded, with the resume that they had.

Good for them that they got hot the in the tournament though.

I'm not sure what he was referring to, since Butler hasn't reached the FF yet this year, but it only makes sense that he's talking about the same year. What would it matter if a team was in the FF the year before? To me, it is only impressive if you beat a FF team the same year they reach the FF, given the high likelihood that a team can completely tank the next year (i.e., LSU in 06-07).

Neither Syracuse or George Mason even reached the NCAA Tournament the year WSU beat them. UNI did win @ LSU the year they reached the Final Four, which was the same year Creighton won @ George Mason the year they reached the Final Four (05-06).

So to correctly answer Aces' question, the 05-06 season was the last season a team from the Valley beat a team that went on to reach the Final Four, when two Valley teams pulled it off (UNI @ LSU and Creighton @ George Mason).

Overseeded? How about underseeded. the Horizon league is not the same as it used to be, there are actually some decent teams in there (see missouri st getting whacked in BB at valpo) but more importantly they beat Florida State (sweet sixteen team) along with close loses to duke and xavier that proved they could beat good teams, won 22 games, and won their last 9 coming into the tourney. Sure they had some bad loses but sorry if you watched the tournament you would know they belong. Tell me what 9 or above seed deserved to be in front of them? If you think they are just getting hot at the right time your crazy, Brad Stevens is a great coach and its not like their shooting lights out they shot 42 percent last night. Its amazing a team like Butler who wins with defense and timely shooting is getting called lucky.. again. How many elite eights you want them to make in a row b4 they get a little credit.
