Does he have to win a conference regular season or tourney title, or maybe make the NCAA tournament to get "even richer"? If not, great deal for him.

Wichita State is a "big-money" program. That being the case, we tend to throw money at our problems. Our primary focus at this point is dominating the Valley year in and year out and making an NCAA Tourney run an annual event.

We've thrown loads of money at HCGM and he has brought in loads of talent. In fact, this year we had two starting lineups; one lineup was BCS quality, the other MVC quality. The beauty of the deal is that on any given night, we didn't know which lineup was BCS and which was MVC. Tons of potential...

Trust me when I say this, HCGM has a nice deal (not a great deal because he just turned down 2mm/year to stay at WSU), but Shocker fans have a GREAT deal. And that's a fact Jack!

It's a great day to be a Shocker!

Coldblooded likes to remind us how much money WSU has ALL THE TIME. It gets a little embarrassing. WSU has a coach that can recruit top-notch JUCO and MVC players. Unfortunately, he can't get them over the hump. He did a great job coaching during the NIT, so hopefully for the Valley's sake, he can continue doing that next year.

The Valley needs everyone to start doing better, including WSU.

That being said, I wouldn't say that paying your coach 1 1/4 million dollars for a 2nd place finish and no trip to the NCAA's is really something that you want to brag about. That could just be me though.....

About half a dozen BCS schools think he is worth more than we pay him. In fact, his confirmed "street value" at this time is right at 2 million per year. We don't set the price for HCGM, the market does.. and the market has an uncanny knack for being more accurate than individual opinion.

I would like to see HCGM at about 1.5 million with healthy bonuses for NCAA wins. I would put a Final Four bonus at around 250k, a Final at 500k, and a National Championship at 1mm.

Hell, when we made our last Sweet Sixteen, the university bookstore sold over 150k in merchandise in just a few short weeks. We had orders from all over the country. The Shocker Nation is vast.

Speaking of the vastness of the Shocker Nation, did you guys know that Wichita State had more fans in NYC than all of the other BCS programs? Neat huh?

Oh it never ends with ColdBlooded.....

Congrats on having Marshall as your coach.

...and for having a lot of merchandise sales 6 years ago.

...and for having more fans in NYC than Alabama.

...and for anything else that you are better at than any of the other MVC schools.

I apologize to any sane Wichita fan on here, who must have cringed more than I did reading through Cold's groundless bullsh*t.

You know, I agree with a lot of your points.

What I disagree with is "about half a dozen BCS schools..." bit. It wasn't nearly that many. NC State? Please nobody wants to work with Yow. They would have had to overpay to get him and the nearly 2 million number was just that. Overpaying. Schools like Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, and probably even Miami are turned off by his lack of BCS experience as HC or AC and the perception that he is difficult. Which he is. Helps the Shox though ultimately.

But in all honesty, I think he is worth the $1.15 million number to Wichita State. Heck, he's probably worth more to them than that as you say
