On the first day back after a two-week break from school, Egolf tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee while playing in a pickup game with his teammates at Renaissance Coliseum.
A best-case scenario would see a return to action by mid-December for the 6-foot-9 Alaska native.
Depending on his recovery, though, it’s entirely possible the fifth-year senior could miss the whole season and be forced to petition for a sixth year of eligibility.
Egolf, who suffered the same injury on Nov. 29, 2008 — six games into his sophomore season — received the word about his latest misfortune Tuesday afternoon after a Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) showed a complete ligament tear.
