Didn't Kent State sue them, too. What's the deal?

Never liked Les, but it sure sounds like Bradley is trying to low ball him.

If what he is saying is true then I'd have to agree. You signed the dude to a 12 yr contract...pay the man his due for 12 years. :Violin:

Is BU broke? Won't pay Les, won't pay Kent State.

For all the dumb things SIU has done, I'm pretty sure, when C-Lo gets fired, they'll pay him his due.

Their either flat broke or getting some absolutely horrid legal advice. Sounds like a ridiculous amount of penny pinching going on. Embarrassing.

Who would take a job offer from them in the future? The only guarantee seems to be litigation.

I am certain that this is just a big smear campaign cooked up by some Illinois State alums or Illini special interests or corrupt newspaper to make BU look bad. There is nothing going on here, inside sources have informed me of such. Everything will turn out to be just fine and everyone who is reporting on this will be made to look bad, just wait.

Bradley is claiming that UC-Davis is paying Les less than he deserves ($125k/yr) for the first three years of his coaching contract there so that he can maximize the amount he receives from Bradley over the remaining three years of his terminated contract with Bradley. After the Bradley payments go away, his salary at UC-Davis doubles. Bradley thinks the contract was structured to harm them. Whether this is true or not, it's unfortunate this had to become front page news on the ESPN basketball page which doesn't reflect terribly well on Bradley.

I noticed that too in the article...does anyone else find that fishy? Les was a good coach but also a bit of a cryer and a jerk, I'm starting to see this in a different light and it makes a lot more sense. Bradley will bear the brunt of the bad PR in any case though.

If I'm UC-Davis's AD, I ask Les for a copy of his contract and give it to my attorney. I tell my attorney to give me an idea of what kind of severance Les is receiving. My attorney tells me that BU is on the hook for all of Les's salary for 3 years, minus any money that Les makes as a college basketball coach.

So the AD comes to Les and says:
The UC-Davis AD wrote:Jim, we'd like to offer you a salary of $1 per year for three years and $250k per year after that

Les responds:
Jim Les wrote:You know that isn't fair to Bradley. How about $200k per year for five years?

The two parties eventually settle on a $625,000 contract over 5 years with a salary increase in year 4. Jim Les is guaranteed $250k in income every year, UC Davis saves some money up front as it has to do with California's multi-billion dollar budget shortfall, and Bradley is left holding the bag.

Doesn't sound too sinister to me.
