OT: Oklahoma admits to major violations

Too bad for Lon Kruger, this doesn't sound good. Oklahoma is a repeat offender and could have the hammer dropped on them.
NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma admitted Thursday that it committed two major rules violations in its men's basketball program as it asked the NCAA for leniency despite its second serious infractions case in the past five years.

Under NCAA bylaws, a "repeat violator" can face a minimum of having the sport dropped for one or two seasons with no scholarships provided for two seasons. The NCAA infractions committee has the authority to override such a designation."

I doubt the NCAA will drop the death penalty on OU. They may out some stiff sanctions, but they aren't going to drill a BcS school.

Well, if Lon would have stayed at that ethical bastion of UNLV, he wouldn't be in this pickle.

:+1: You are always good for a chuckle Trapped

I can't imagine the NCAA doing something as drastic as removing the sport for a season or two, especially when it was mainly one individual at fault and the school is manning up and actively taking responsibility. Plus it OU basketball. We're talking about a program that for quite awhile was usually just "OK" to "Decent", got Blake Griffin and became "Elite", watched him leave and now has been fighting Iowa State for a comfy spot in the Big XII's cellar.
"Got it into Moran, final seconds TICK AWAY!! PANTHERS WIN! PANTHERS WIN! Oh BABY, I LOVE THIS TEAM!!! The UNI Panthers have just SHOCKED the College Basketball World. DOWN GOES KANSAS! DOWN GOES KANSAS!!"
