For Drake, there are a lot of potential "breakthrough" player depending on how that's being defined.
Kraidon Woods. Some Drake fans thought he should have been starting ahead of VanDeest last season. He's 6-9 and almost freakishly athletic for a guy that size. He was good enough to sign with Villanova out of high school prior to going to a prep school, then stagnated at the end of Arizona State's bench for 2 years. He then sat out a season as a transfer at Binhampton, so most of last year, he was shaking off the rust. He attended the prestigious Pete Newell Big Man Camp this summer. With his athleticism, if he can develop a "go-to" move, he could do some damage.
Jordan Clarke. Started at power forward for Drake last season, but missed about 10 games with injury very early in the season, and was far from 100% the rest of the way. He's 6-8 and about 250, and had about 50 offers out of high school. I'm looking forward to see what he can do with 2 healthy arms.
Ben Simons. Simons had some decent offers out of high school (Providence, Utah) and was runner up for Mr Basketball in Michigan his senior year. He showed flashes of excellent play last season. If he can be more consistent, he could easily be a 14-15 ppg guy.
Sleeper:
Jeremy Jeffers....6-6 redshirt freshman. JJ was rated higher than Rayvonte Rice when they were both high school seniors, but missed most of last season with a knee injury. He was Drake's 3rd leading scorer on the Australia trip. Very long arms really help him defensively.
