VERY early record predictions

Postby CaliJay » September 8th, 2011, 1:52 pm

Although realistically it is way too early to predict records, I thought it would be interesting to take a stab at an early prediction for regular season records for our respective teams. After looking at Creighton's full schedule today, I came away with a record of 22-8 heading into MVC tourney play. Although they play some tough teams away from home, I would doubt this would be good enough to gain an at-large. (Unless the MVC takes a major step this year)

Does anyone dare take an early stab at their teams' regular season record after first glance at schedules?

super early, but my guess right now is ISUr goes 10-3 in non-conference play and then 9-9 in conference play for a grand total of 19-12 which might get us into the CBI or CIT.

Not only could I see Creighton securing an at-large this year, but I could also see them in the top 25 (especially after you beat 1/3 of the big 10).

It's never too early.

WSU 13-5 in conference. One or two losses out of conference. Hopefully the bracket buster game and a strong showing in preseason tourney put us in the conversation.

21-9. Plenty of opportunity to be better than that, could be a shade worse but I don't think so unless they get hit with a lot of injuries. If by chance they could be successful in Puerto Rico, then that record could be a lot better. I think this team is going to be a lot tighter than last year's team....now whether or not that corresponds to improved chemistry or not, time will tell.

18-0 in conference play. Our JV team will also go 18-0 and we will take 1st and 2nd place in the Valley.

Can't really say for sure since we're one of the last teams in Division I to release a schedule.

In all honesty, until I can see what this team can do in the frontcourt, I could see anywhere from 8-12 losses.

For UE...I've got 7-4 non-con and 11-7 in-con. 18-11 overall.

What would be interesting is to take the guess from one fan of each team..then see how close the MVC regular season predictions come to equaling an overall .500 winning percentage :)

On that note---Bradley will give you guys a lot of victories. I see 5-9 non conf including BBuster and then 4-14 in the MVC. 9-23 overall heading into the MVCT.

Yes, the Braves have a new coach and all but even he can't make chicken salad out of chicken ****.

I don't think there is a team that UNI can't beat in conference or lose to in conference depending on the occasion. That said, I do believe we are better than the bottom 3/4 teams in the conference and should beat them both games that we have a better than average shot against the rest of the league at home and maybe knock off a couple in their houses. Factor in one or two home losses and an unexpected road loss (we lost to 10th place Evansville in 09-10 after all) and I come out with about like last year at 10-8. Non-conference will be challenging with some tough road venues early for a young team and some solid competition on neutral floors. I think we win our home games and pick up at least a couple road/neutrals to go 8-3 there. 18-11 without the bracketbuster since I haven't looked and don't want to try and guess this far out who we'll end up with there-but if we're where I think we'll be record-wise, it'll be a decent team.

It's up in the air for BU - the most unpredictable season in quite some time. But I can tell you that we've got 2 of the top 10 in the Valley, as Mr. Brown will step up from a solid sophomore season, and Dyricus-Simms Edwards will become this team's leader. Also key returning guys will improve under this new system.

I took the worst case scenario & best case, and then took the average of those to come up with my prediction.

Worst case: 12-19 (7-11 in Valley)
Best case: 20-11 (11-7 in Valley)

I'm going with -- BU -- 16-15 (9-9 in Valley)
As a BU fan, as most of us are, we are optimistic that we can get to 20 wins, but having a winning record is attainable and more realistic.
