Firing him accomplishes nothing. Assisting him in getting some rehab, letting him keep his job, but with some heavy restrictions related to alcohol is the only way to help someone in his situation.
He obviously can't handle things on his own, so give him the support he needs - and tie his job to making use of the help offered to him.
He might need a few months away from a microphone. Alcoholics going cold turkey do, say, and think some irrational things and have emotional reactions to various things they have to go through to recover.
