Lowrey Beats D2 Team, Comments on Drake Loss

I saw that there wasn't a topic about last night's SIU win, so I wrote one.

(CARBONDALE) Chris Lowrey made what may become his only bid for MVC Coach of the Year Saturday in a 97-65 beatdown of the Miners from Missouri Science and Technology at SIU Arena.

In his post-game press conference, Lowrey made sure to note that nine different players saw the floor for his squad, and that seven scored in double figures. Despite the distributed scoring, the team managed to play defense against four Miners throughout the game.

Lowrey said he offered the fifth Miner, Tommy Pelczynski, a scholarship at halftime. Pelczynski declined, and went on to total 30 of the Miners' points.

Dean Smith, a blogger from SalukiTalk.com (and no relation to the longtime Duke coach) offered a 4-minute rambling question in the post-game press conference. I think Smith asked how it felt for Lowrey to have won all of his games against non-D1 opponents in recent memory, while programs like Evansville, Bradley, and Drake have not achieved such success. In response, Lowrey said, "you know, Dean, I have to thank our local media and my great athletic director. And whenever a reporter asks about Drake, I always respond with a rap straight copied from the greatest rapper of our time.

"I might be too strung out on compliments. Overdosed on confidence.
Started not to give a **** and stopped fearing the consequence
Drinking every night because we drink to my accomplishments
They know, they know, they know. Yeah they know yeah, That the real is on the rise, **** them other guys

The conference was strangely devoid of any reference to any SIU players. The team will return to the court on November 12, hosting Ohio Dominican.

Also at the game, SIU announced that, due to the faculty union owning the term "Saluki", the team will be known as the Fightin' Macaroons until the faculty strike is resolved. Asked about the new nickname, SIU director of athletics Marco Moccia said "It's an idea that came up while I was baking cookies at coach Lowrey's. The cookies were inedible because I drank the water the recipe suggested, but I hope the new nickname is well-done."

Not to be a smart ass but Dean Smith was a long time coach at North Carolina who I am sure enjoyed beating Duke.

The whole article is fake, all the quotes made up, and I'm assuming all the mistakes were intentional.

Some errors were intentional; others were mistakes. Dean Smith being a Dukie was a mistake.
