Great start by the league... some good points in this article... although I'm biased...

Ya 2 quality road wins (ODU and Nevada) and a good home win against Butler. I'm looking forward to seeing how Creighton fairs on the road Wednesday at UAB and a "neutral site" game in Des Moines against Iowa on Sunday the 20th. I think the UAB game will be a tough one to pull off but I am hopeful. As far as Iowa goes I will be disappointed if Creighton doesn't win that one.

Des Moines should be a pretty neutral site for the CU-Iowa game. Both schools are about 2 hours from Des Moines (U of I is a little closer), but CU draws much better at home than Iowa (about 50% better). There are a lot more Iowa fans in Des Moines than CU fans, but Iowa fans generally don't realize basketball season has started until after the bowl season. There's no reason CU can't bring several thousand fans to Des Moines. How was the crowd last year for their game in DSM against Iowa St?

You are right, I'm sure that Creighton will bring a good portion of fans for the game. I'm not so sure about the numbers last year against Iowa St.

It was pretty close to a 50/50 crowd (slight advantage Iowa St) last year. I suspect Iowa has a bigger fanbase in DSM than Iowa St., the proximity to Ames notwithstanding. Creighton should always get decent crowds in central and western Iowa because we have tons of alums in those areas and recruit those areas hard for undergrads. A game in Iowa City would be a completely different story.

It also presents one of the few day trip opportunities that fans in Omaha really have. It is the same reason that there are always so many Creighton fans at the Drake game.
