Well…it seems that Mr. Mueller evaluates talent using a different tool than did Jank. Not that Allen was dismissed based on his talent level, but he has COMPLETELY blown up the team. After one year as coach, Mueller has totally erased any remnants of the Jankovich regime. I am intrigued and will watch the development of the Redbirds with much anticipation!

Being saying it all off season. ISU-R is a WRECK right now. Redbird fans can point to Muller cleaning house but you never want your entire team gone from a season ago. Let alone when you are replacing them with mostly lightly recruited guys. A couple of ISU-R recruits look solid but you need about 7 or 8 of them if you are going to lose your entire squad from the year before.

I would say only one is a real reach (Jamaal Samuel), and even he would have been a quality recruit out of high school just one year ago. The rest are status quo MVC recruits. I would agree that Muller will need a couple surprises to be competitive (avoid Thursday) next season. Lucky for him, optimism from much of the Valley is weighing heavily on the shoulders of unproven players (DU, UNI, BU, SIU).

If he would have played extensively next season, bad business for the Birds.
If he would have sat extensively as the lone senior, bad business for the Birds.
If Dan, Dana & company can recruit like Bird fans hope, good business for the Birds.
