Drake close to building practice facility

Drake is the only school in the conference without a dedicated basketball practice facility. That should change soon. I've been told that the construction will probably start this fall.

It should even help with something as basic as practice.....over the years, Drake often had to practice at odd hours, because that was the only time they could get the Bell Center (gym they use for practice when Knapp Center unavailable due to volleyball, etc.)

Bears used to have those problems as well; remember a lot of times during Barry's tenure trying to figure what HS gym the Bears might be at in the summer months or early in the fall sometimes if there were camps and other events going at HSC. Again, good development for Drake; sometimes getting a new coach is the impetus for facility improvement and additions.

Practice facility is now fully enclosed. I've been told that it should be completed by September 1.
