Official 2013-14 MVCfans.com Prediction - 7th Place

Each week we will open a poll for users to predict the end of season finish for the MVC 2013-14 basketball season. We will work in reverse order, concluding with the predicted MVC champion chosen by our users between the last two teams remaining in week 9.

Well, it looks like most mvcfans are really gung-ho on the LU Ramblers....let's see if they can make it up to second place. Why not as it looks like this poll is already a bit of farce.

I picked Ranblers here. I like the Shockers, Ind. St, and UNI to be good this year. I don't like Evansville, Loyola, or even Bradley or MSU to finish 4th. I suppose someone has too.

Why is it a farce? Its just a pre season poll.

Putting Loyola here just seems right. The real competition for this spot (in my mind) is Evansville or Missouri State. Loyola has a lot of exp returning. So does MoSt. Evansville has some inside players and a coach who gets some respect.

I think Moser has a better resume than Lusk. Lusk has Marshall, Thurman, and Pickens, which gives him some talent.

I think MSU's young talent and UE's inside game give them an edge over UL this season.

Incredibly close between Loyola and Evansville for me. I'm going with Loyola just because of Marty's coaching ability and familiarity with the conference. Loyola will have more growing pains than they otherwise would because of the increase in difficulty.

If Loyola was a 10 win (overall) Valley team last year, though, I'd probably go with them over Evansville. Just the transition that makes it tougher.

I'm going to go ahead and vote for Loyola here. I think the Ramblers will finish in the lower middle tier-- with a similar league record to Evansville and Missouri State--- but I think the Ramblers will lose out on the tiebreakers. Loyola looks to me to be a 7-8 win team next year. Only WSU, ISUb, and UNI look like 11+ win teams to me.

I picked Evansville here. While I think they still have a talented team, I'm not sold they'll be able to overcome the loss of Colt Ryan.

This is the second time you have espoused a strong opinion on something with nothing to back it up. Care to tell us why this is a farce?

I picked Loyola here because I just can't make myself believe that the Aces will be a Thursday team this year, but make it clear that the loss of Colt will be a huge obstacle for the Aces to overcome, not to mention the loss of three other senior starters. The Aces do have some talent, enough to at least finish 6th, but it's going to take a while for everybody to learn their role, and adjust to becoming a leader at their position rather than being a supporting player to Colt. It's going to be tough at first, but hopefully by the first of the year, they can be a team you don't want to play.
