Official 2013-14 MVCfans.com Prediction - 6th Place

Now that we have predicted our Thursday night teams, we move forward to 6th place.

Each week we will open a poll for users to predict the end of season finish for the MVC 2013-14 basketball season. We will work in reverse order, concluding with the predicted MVC champion chosen by our users between the last two teams remaining in week 9.

Loyola was selected as the 7th place finisher (results: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3252 )

I went with Bradley,the choice is between them and MSU

I chose Bradley as well. The real shame is that one of Bradley, Evansville, MSU will be picked to finish 4th.

You really think UNI and ISUb are that far ahead of BU, UE, or MSU?

This is where I would have picked LU so I put Evansville in this place instead.

Yes. ISUb was 9-9 last year and return nearly everyone including POY candidate Jake Odum and possible first teamer Manny Arop. They have quality depth and size.

UNI finished 11-7. While they lost some talent, I do not expect them to fall much in conference. While I admit that they could finish 4th or 5th, I don't have any reason to predict that in September.

Bradley was 7-11 with 5 wins against teams that were 7-11 or worse. Bradley did not beat a non-con team with a winning record until the CIT.

MSU had exactly ONE Non-con win…and it was in February. They too finished 7-11.

MSU and Bradley will both be better than last year. They were MUCH worse last year than people remember because they finished just shy of mediocre.

Evansville lost too much to compete for third.

Well, DUH!

InSU has the best PG in the league. Arop was a key contributor last year and JuCo's tend be be superstars in their Sr. years compared to their Jr. years. The rest of their team has experience and are pretty good. Can't say the same for BU, UE, or MSU.

UNI has something BU, UE, and MoSt don't have - it's Ben Jacobsen. Evidently there is a very good relationship between Jacobsen and the UNI Athletic Department. I'm certain Jacobsen has had plenty of chances to move up the coching ladder, but he's still t UNI.

Jacobsen could probably take a couple of managers, a couple of football players, and a couple of good intramural players and finish in the top half of the Valley. I have a lot of respect for Geno nd Marty, but those guys lost a lot. As long as UNI has Jacobsen, there are going to be some good coaches needing good recruits as Sr's to catch UNI.

The jury might still be out on Lusk, but after the loss to Alabama A & M, the straw poll from the jury was 11-1 in favor of the death penalty. After the Valley season, it was only bout 8 - 4 in the same direction, but there was improvement. Just not enough to move MoSt past 5th this year, even with some decent (but young) talent.

Well, I'm not going to pick the Aces to finish 3rd or 4th just because that's were I wish they would be. I think that they are a year away from being a top tier team, and I think that 6th is were they will be this season. They have too many ?'s this year. Let me see how they do in non-con play, and I could change my opinion.

The Bears aren't as young as some think, they will be able to mix a very experienced core with those youngsters who had to play last year.
