Same sticky man defense. A couple of the bigs got a four fouls each but the rest of the team accounted for only 5 fouls. The new rules will cause problems for those players who are not well coached on defensive position and don't use their feet to defend. UE did take a couple of charges down low, however.
This is going to change the way the game is played in the paint though. Gone will be the days of pushing the offensive player backing in and also the power forward pushing to the rim. The rule change is meant to free up the offense and allow for more scoring. Also, there's a new rule to protect the offensive player from being undercut to take a charge. If the offensive player begins his upward motion to go for the rim (feet can still be on the ground) then the defensive player cannot get into position to take a charge. And I thought the semi-circle was a tough call.
Will the 4-step travel be next?
