WSU vs. D2 Emporia State

Not many surprises in this one.

For those who had a wait-and-see attitude about Baker being able to move with the ball to create his own shot, he can sure do that in this game.

Scoring may not be as well-balanced this year as it has in other years with Marshall. Early and Baker are looking like they may get the bulk of the scoring. VanVleet is also getting his share.

Post play is probably going to get some attention in future practices.

WSU up 49 - 26 at the half.

With about 15 minutes left, VanVleet is the leading rebounder in the game with 6.

VanVleet also has 6 assists, 4 steals, and no turnovers.

Shox win 93-50. The bench cleared at the 8 minute mark.

Early lead the Shockers with 21 in 25 minutes, but only 3 boards and so-so shooting.

VanVleet and Baker will play a lot this year with Baker being the starting SG and back-up PG. Cotton can help in a pinch, but also starts.

Baker/VanVleet combined line:

50 minutes, 29 points, 10-14 FGs, 3-4 from 3, 6-8 FT, 9 Reb, 12 A, 1 TO, 2 blocks, 5 steals

Post play was pretty iffy. Team Canada (Nick Wiggins and CJ Lufile) played 27 minutes and 17 points. Lufile added 5 rebounds.

ESU is D II so take it for what it's worth.

An addition to the combined stats for Baker and VanVleet - 2 fouls.

The Shocker team defense was pretty good until the last part of the 2nd half. Cotton,Early, Baker, Van Vleet, Wiggins, etc. all played hard and good defense.

Yes

Even if it was UMKC, that's a tough task being asked to play back-to-back nights, especially when the Shox are who you get in the 2nd go-around.
[Insert snappy comeback]

They have a game that actually counts on their record tomorrow too.
