Standings after 6 games

1. Wichita State: 6-0
2. Indiana State: 5-1
T3. Illinois State: 4-2
T3. Northern Iowa: 4-2
T5. Bradley: 2-4
T5. Evansville: 2-4
T5. Loyola-Chicago: 2-4
T5. Missouri State: 2-4
T5. Southern Illinois: 2-4
10. Drake: 1-5

I guess you could call those first four teams a bit of a breakaway.

One wonders:
- Will Dr. Jeckle return to Des Moines any time soon? Would that be a good or bad thing?
- Is Illinois State for real, or a beneficiary of a relatively easy schedule (home wins against Evansville, Loyola and SIU)?
- How many wins will the 10th place team have?

DU-ILSU game isn't over yet but at 12 points I assume we know the winner

1-4 and everybody else does appear to be a breakaway. The difference between 1 and 3-4 and the difference between 3-4 and 5-9 is the same.

There's as much of a breakaway between 1 and 3-4 as there is between 3-4 and 5-9.

Drake is dropping faster than an atomic sub in full dive mode.

We'll know a bit more with the home game against WSU.

Only one team really surprises me, and that is Drake. How could they nearly destroy UE, and then cannot beat anybody else. Buckle up, it looks like it's going to be a wild ride. It's one super team, and then the rest of us.

Drake has changed a lot since Evansville. The aggressive play that produced the wins is gone. We now force the ball into the post and when we don't turn it over pass aimlessly around the perimeter before forcing up a shot.
